A Serious Safety Hazard – Immediate Recall Needed

I purchased this GE microwave expecting reliability and safety from such a well-established brand. However, it has proven to be a dangerous product. Without warning, the microwave began sparking and emitting smoke during standard use, despite following the manufacturer’s instructions carefully.
After researching further, I discovered that this is not an isolated issue. Numerous reports from other customers describe similar incidents, indicating a recurring and systemic defect in this model. This is a severe safety hazard that could easily lead to fires, property damage, or even personal injury.
I now realize why GE has discontinued this model, but simply discontinuing it is not enough. GE should issue an immediate recall to protect consumers and thoroughly address the design flaws causing these malfunctions. Safety should always be a top priority, and this microwave fails to meet that basic standard.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Microwave is sparking intermittently when operating. Its random. I have seen from reviews , this is not an isolated incident. I will stop using using, as my kids are scared of it Would expect a recall or some from of communication based on a few incidents...its not safe!!

Was great but needs recalled & replaced!

This microwave was the original we had installed in our kitchen set along with our stove, dishwasher, & fridge appliances when our house was built in 2017. My impression thus far is that GE products are built well & made to last. The only issue we’ve had this far is two service calls for our dishwasher until now. The microwave worked great until this week. It started making loud noises & the light started flickering. I came on website to find a replacement, but I was extremely disappointed to see this could have led to worse issues & potentially even fires. I fully agree that the magnitude of this issue should lead to some accountability & recall or replacement option from GE.

Fire Hazard!

Experiencing same issue as others have described here. Original unit installed in our home built in 2017. Now arcing, burn marks present and just yesterday my wife said there was an actual flame inside the unit when attempting to make popcorn. Obviously, can no longer use it as it is dangerous to do so! Don't understand why action hasn't been taken by GE to be more proactive to address the issue.

We purchased our house two years ago and have used the microwave sporadically due to sparks. It now burst into a big flame and it is not safe to use. This is very disappointing. I do not recommend this microwave, it is a fire hazard.

Worked great for a while

This microwave worked great for a while until it repeatedly started to spark every time we tried to use it. It would also make startling loud noises. It seems others are having this same problem. We had our kitchen renovated the latter part of 2017and chose this microwave with the trim kit since we had it built into a cabinet under the counter. It’s been challenging to try and find a replacement that will fit since it’s discontinued.
A previous post response mentioned a compatible replacement but it seems to only come in black or white and I need stainless steel. Not sure what do from here. Any help is greatly appreciated!
