Need replacement model
on April 26, 2022
Posted by: CSC65
from Virginia
We have model PEB7226SF1SS as a built-in and after a few repairs it’s no longer useable. We would like to replace it with something that matches the existing built-in kit already installed and hoping we can find a replacement that also does convection baking. Is there a model that microwaves and convection bakes that will fit our existing buil-in?
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hi there,
Thanks for taking the time to leave a review on your microwave! We'd love to help you shop around.
The easiest replacement for you would be model PEB7227ANDD which you can see here: https://www.geappliances.com/appliance/GE-Profile-2-2-Cu-Ft-Built-In-Sensor-Microwave-Oven-PEB7227ANDD - You are not able to use your old trim kit with a new microwave as the trim kits are model specific. The new model we've listed has several trim kits that you can see in its Specs & Details section.
If you're wanting a convection model, take a look at PEB9159SJSS: https://www.geappliances.com/appliance/GE-Profile-1-5-Cu-Ft-Countertop-Convection-Microwave-Oven-PEB9159SJSS - This choice however will require adjusting your cutout space to accommodate the new microwave. Its trim kits are also listed in its Specs and Details section.
If you'd like to look at the trim kits themselves, you can search for their part numbers on our parts page here: https://www.geappliances.com/ge/parts/?icid=GEARpartsflyout-allparts
We do hope this helps!
If you've got other questions or concerns, know that we're always happy to help.
Best wishes, Michael@GEA

Started making occasional strange noise, a couple months later noticed a strange smell then stopped working, no power to it at all. Just hit 6 years and not used very hard.

We had this unit PEB72266SSF1SS for just 6 yrs and zapping and sparking sound on the right side. It creates the stain as well. Seriously, this microwave is junk. Just less than 6 yrs. This model has been known to have the same issue with other customers. Don't buy.

Like others, ours is scorched on the inside and of course there is no replacement. Horrible planning on GEs part. They should be embarrassed.

Could have started a fire

Not happy!! We bought the microwave plus trim kit and within a few months sparks started happening inside (no we didn’t have anything metal in it-for instance a brownie in a glass dish made it spark). After three years the whole thing had a major sparking event and stopped working. I’m shocked it didn’t start a fire. Dangerous! I would not recommend. (Tried to post photos of the scorch marks inside but website wouldn’t allow me to attach).

TERRIBLE! Buyer Beware!
on September 13, 2023

Agree with other users. This unit should be recalled! Just as others mentioned mine sparked for no reason at all. Placed only a microwave safe mug with some coffee in it this morning and the unit mad a zapping noise, fizzled and turned off. It is now totally unresponsive. When I went in to inspect, the metal plate on the right was scorched. Thank goodness the unit did not catch fire and burn my kitchen! Absolutely unacceptable for a high price microwave unit!

Fire Danger

I am replacing this product now after 5 years because it is Arc-ing electrically. Several other users have had same, dangerous problem. GE stopped making the unit but such a brand should offer discounts on the replacement for existing owners.
