Extremely unsafe. Microwave should be recalled

As many others have stated this microwave seemed to work well at first until it became unsafe to use when it started sparking and popping and nearly started a fire. I am shocked that this microwave has not been recalled since this seems to be a common issue. I thought maybe it was just us and that we got a bad one until I came here and read the other reviews. We have been struggling to find a replacement as there is no suitable replacement offered that will fit with the existing trim kit and match the rest of our appliances. I would appreciate if GE would help us to remedy this issue especially since the product was clearly defective and posed a significant safety risk.

UNSAFE PRODUCT, RECALL NEEDED

Same issue as everyone else within the last 30 days. The microwave made loud crackling and banging sounds. Upon investigating there was the same burn mark just like others posted here. This is a HUGE safety issue and will likely cause serious injury to someone soon. GE needs to recall this product ASAP. As there is no replacement product for this microwave it renders the trim kit useless and is making it very difficult to find a suitable substitution.

Another defective and dangerous unit

After 7yrs of flawless operation our microwave experienced the same arc/flame issues everyone else seems to be having. What’s worse is it happened today, Christmas morning, during our traditional breakfast routine. Only to be disappointed further once we found out there is no replacement to fill the custom cabinetry we built around this appliance.

Safety Hazard and No Replacement

Same issue as everyone else within the last 30 days. As with other reviewers, the microwave made a loud crackling and banging sound and a hole was burnt out on the right-hand side, as similar to all the other pictures. As there is no replacement product for this microwave, we can't find a suitable substitute. Not to mention this is a massive safety and hazard issue. GE needs to address and make a recall as well as find a solution for this.

I am reading the reviews and I JUST had the same thing happen—microwave is no longer heating. GE you MUST respond to us and make this right!!! We all have custom built-ins and need a replacement. Come on—do the right thing!

Caught fire

Similar to others on this page, we went to reheat pizza on a microwave safe dish this week and the microwave basically caught fire. Damage looks exactly like everyone else’s pictures. Worked fine previously. Tried to add images but wouldn’t upload.

Dangerous

It seems what happened to a lot of people's microwaves happened to mine. Wave card scorched and inside of unit is also damaged as a result. Very dangerous! Having a hard time finding something to fit the same spot. 8 years old. Wouldn't be so upset if I could find something to easily fit the same exact spot.

Dangerous Faulty Product/Stop Using Immediately

The first time it sparked we thought the entire microwave was catching on fire. We quickly opened it and did not notice any scorching. A couple of days later the same thing happened, except this time it left a large scorched area. After
getting online and reading all the other similar issues from other customers, it is shocking that a company as reputable as GE has continued to allow this issue to persist and has not issued a recall on this model. I have removed my microwave and will be purchasing a new one. I refuse to allow my family to consume food from the microwave after flames and sparks ignite from the inside. GE please consider the health and safety of all of the consumers who are unaware of this potential issue and do a product recall.
