good printer, toner runs out too soon, clunky wifi

Have owned the printer for 3 months now. When it stays connected to my wireless router, it works great. When it gets disconnected, it often fails to reconnect and I have to set up the printer from scratch. Toner is made from the factory to run out far before it's actually empty. I had to buy a third-party product to force the printer to allow printing after it thinks the toner is empty. Brother toner is probably good, and is a usually a good price, but since the printer refuses to use the full amount of toner, it makes it a very expensive option. Since I had to buy third-party tools to make the printer work as expected, I decided to just buy third-party refill toner. Now my printing costs are VERY LOW because the toner is much less expensive than I thought it would be, wifi has been working okay lately, and I print quite a bit with this machine. My favorite feature is the duplexer, which prints on both sides of the paper. Prints fast enough, fairly reliable but has wifi issues, expensive toner, had to buy third party tools to make it work better. If they would remove the factory limits to the longevity of the toner and fix the wifi issues, I would give this printer 4 stars. I would recommend it to a friend because it was a decent price and it hasn't broken yet.

Good WiFi printer

As usual this Brother WiFi printer was easy to install and operate. I purchased this printer with the purpose of being able to print from my iPhone and iPad on my home network. The setup was simple and efficient with no problems installing drivers and recognizing my network. I can now print from any point in my house from my wireless devices. Thank you Brother.

One flaw

I have only one problem with this printer and that is setting up the wireless feature. I always have to call your tech support ( which is tops) and they walk me through it. Why can't I just hook this machine up and it would immediately recognize the machine and that's it. Maybe since I'm running a Mac that is the problem, but shouldn't be.

Unbelievable Printer At A Great Price

I have used my Brother HL-2270DW laser printer for several weeks. I am very impressed with the features of the printer including the wireless capability which was easy to install and the duplex printing capability which I have used on occasion.
The machine takes a bit of time to warm up, but once completed it is a very capable and quick printer with good resolution as you might expect from a laser printer.
I am using the printer for my business as well as for personal use and I could not be happier with its smaller size and its outstanding capabilities.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Nice Printer, Things Could Be Even Better

I am really impressed at how much printer I got for the price. Set-up was especially easy since I chose to interface via USB. The print resolution and clarity are very good. I was pleasantly surprised that such an inexpensive printer could do all this one does, including duplex printing. I was on the edge about the duplex capability, but along with duplex comes a straight-through path manual paper feed. I sometimes print stuff on 44 lb. paper, so this is a desirable feature.
Improvements: 1. I become impatient when setting up something new. Since it is new to me, things that are 'obvious' to experienced users are not so obvious to me as a newbe. I find it really helpful for a manual to have photos of the product with the various buttons, access doors, connections, etc. pointed out. I had to hunt around for things like the power switch and so forth. At first, it wasn't clear where the paper tray was. I eventually found everything, but it sure is handy to have a few photos with arrows and descriptions to find things fast for easy set-up. 2. The starter toner cartridge does not last very long, especially if you print graphics. It would be wise to buy a spare toner cartridge along with the printer to have it on hand. The TN-450 is obviously the better deal, and you will need it soon enough, so go with that one.

When feeding a letter head into the manual feed every other one comes out crooked. This is a great wasted of paper.

Great Printer

I had reservations about going to a Brother printer, because I didn't know anyone who had one. But, after reading reviews decided to try the HL-2270DW. The price was very reasonable, low cost of printing per page, and WIRELESS. On top of that the ability to save paper by printing both sides was too much, so I gave it a shot.
I am so glad I did. This was extremely easy to set up (easier on the Apple products, a little more involved with Windows 7). After 7 months, it has been absolutely flawless.
I will never hesitate to use Brother printers again, and have recommended this one to several family members and friends.

CLEAN AND CRISP PRINT

Great little printer. Easy to use. However, continual problems with wireless aspect.No problems when USB to computer, but that's not how I want to use it only.
