I owned this machine for 4 years. When it malfunctioned, I was able to locate a factory fresh version of the same printer. It works very well and uses ink very sparingly. Good value.

My HL-2270DW is AWESOME!!!

Fast, EASY setup onto my wireless network via a USB-A to USB-B cable then moved it to my printers location, turned it on and it has wirelessly operated perfectly ever since! It prints BEAUTIFUL, CLEAR, perfect black and white pages super fast! I use it in my home and office so it gets a fair bit of use. Perfect every time, never a paper jam, never any problems at all. I turn it on in the morning and off every evening and just let it sleep between jobs. It's quick out of sleep mode (just a few seconds) then it's lightning fast printing. We love this thing and HIGHLY recommend it. We are so impressed we are looking to Brother to replace our other printers.

A few weeks ago I purchased my Brother HL-2270DL.
Setup was a bit of a problem at first. I didn't know where the on-off seittch was. How embarrassing. But I don't think the quick install guide showed where the switch was. Once I found the switch, setup was a breeze!
I hooked my printer up by Ethernet and USB cable. In case the Internet went down, I didn't want to lose my printer too, so I hooked it up also with USB.
Operating the HL-2270 DW is very easy and I LOVE being able to print in duplex.
I haven't given the printer much of a workout yet because my printing workload is not very big.
I bought the HL-2270 DW to replace my (get this!) HP 5L LaserJet printer which I loved. I repaired it a couple of times, but it finally give up the ghost. Worse yet, Windows 7 didn't support it.
Give the HL-2270 DW a try! You won't be disappointed!
It prints quickly and the print quality is top notch! The machines quality looks to be very good too.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Don't waster your money. After 35 days the printer stopped working. The lights quickly flash on and then the printer does nothing.

I have had this printer for two months now and I am completely satisfied with this product.
It is fast at printing, the duplex feature is great, and overall performance of all its features is beyond expectations.
This is an excellent product at a very reasonable price.
I highly recommend it for home or office!

Excellent little printer

This is an excellent little printer; clear, fast, and hassle free.
The installation went smoothly for attaching it to wired ethernet network, I haven't tried wireless or USB so I can't comment there. Although two things were a bit ambiguous about the instructions. First, the matter of how it's connected to the network refers to how the printer is connected to the network. Never mind that your computers may be connected wirelessly to the router. The printer's connection is all that matters here. Secondly, even though you may have an infrastructure (central router) based network, choose peer-to-peer as your network type.
The software installation was a bit surprising. While most manufacturers embed a pile of useless software and some rather annoying add-ons like browser toolbars, the Brother allowed a clean and minimalist install. It was quick and efficient, and it worked. Just a solitary icon on the desktop that directs you to support if you need it.
The thing is blazingly fast; typically done with a job before I reach for it. Print quality is very good. Ninety percent of my work is in monochrome (or could be) so having a dedicated black and white printer will save me a great deal of supplies. (Most color printer drivers don't give you an option of using the black only.)
It does exhibit a slight "curling" of the paper, particularly when using the duplex mode. I switched to 24 lb. laser paper to combat this and noticed an improvement in print quality as well.
Overall, I'm very pleased with this printer. For what it's designed for, a SOHO environment, it can't be beat.
