Good value with power problem

Relatively easy to set-up. Fast printing.
The printer start-up causes all lights to blink. Can not connect to any power conditioner back-up supply as it trips the fuse. This is VERY frustrating. The only reason I did not return it is because of the hassle. So I am putting up with it.

Prints like a pro

This has to be the best value in printing I have ever come accross. I am extremely pleased with my purchase of this printer, and will recomend Brother products to anywone who is looking for a good basic printer. I can't speak for the all-in-one models that Brother has, but If they are anything like this Jem I'm sure they will please their owners :). The price of brother products is a bit higher than other "comparable" products, but really... there is no comparison. It works like it shoud, no fuss no muss :).

When my color laser broke down, I wanted a compact color laser with duplexing, wireless, and low-cost. When I couldn't find a color laser fitting those requirements, I finally decided I really didn't need color to impress anyone -- I mostly print out ebooks and once in a while I'll print a mailing label to ship a priority mail package. So I started looking at B&W lasers, and I found this unit.
My old color laser was so big, it took up all my important space next to my desk. This new printer is so small, it was just perfect to sit on a shelf in my closet completely out of the way. Installation was a snap, and the unit just waits silently for me to print my few pages a week. It's very fast, and the duplexing works great.
I would love to able to feed more than one item at a time in the auxiliary tray if I want, but I knew that limitation when I bought it. This printer was so much smaller and simpler to use than the competing brand, so I decided I didn't really need a multi-page feeder.
The quality was so nice that the next day I went out and bought a Brother labeler, which I also like a lot. I had never thought about buying Brother products before but the quality of the printer, the installation, and even the warranty signup process has really convinced me.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Modem trouble

This printer is not the easiest to install. The big problem I have had with this printer is when my modem shuts off temporarily (surge protector was accidentally turned off once, changed modems another time etc) it was an absolute nightmare to get it up and running again. I had to use Brother's technical help staff to get it going. (The online help was not helpful, the phone help was great.) So now I live in fear of the modem ever being turned off for any reason.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great printer for the money

We needed a new laser printer. I had been using an HP1100 and I could only load a small amount of paper at a time (about 25-35 sheets). This printer is a pleasure since it has a drawer for paper and I can load up to 250 sheets at a time.

Fast

I was looking at getting another toner cartridge when I seen this guy. The best printer I have owned ever. Even duplex printing rocks but when your one side printing it prints as fast as it can spit out paper, I actually had to look just to make sure it was printing. I just wish they had a version for large format printing in a similar model but very awesome.

I like the printer in general. The printer reduced my cost per copy and the print quality is great. I do not like the fact that if I print a document that is more than several pages long, it prints a few pages, stops for several seconds and then prints a few more pages. The printer repeats this behavior until the whole document is printed. I also do not understand why I cannot access my computer while printing is in progress. I am running Win 7 Home Premium with 4GB ram. All my drivers are up to date.
