Big Bang for the Buck, but not quite a home run

Overall, the printer is excellent. It prints quickly with excellent text. Halftones in photos are okay, not great, but acceptable, and that's okay. I didn't purchase this as a photo printer.
My biggest gripe is how convoluted it is to establish a wireless connection with a Mac-based network. It's not as automatic as other printers that incorporate Bonjour, Apple's protocol that makes printer connections a snap.
Instead, Brother uses a complicated software solution that complicates the process way more than it needs to be.
Once connected, however, all works well. My concerns with Brother's solution is how well Brother will support their software as Mac OS X evolves. If they'd incorporated Bonjour, the monkey would be on Apple's back to keep things current.
While I recommend this printer, it's mostly due to Bang for the Buck. I don't think you'll find a better laser printer for the price of this one.

The printer works very well for the price. It was hard getting wireless to work, but I have had this situation with another brand of printer also.

I purchased this printer because we were going through so much ink it was costing me a small fortune. This printer was reasonably priced and can print a ton of pages at a fraction of the cost. It prints fast as well as on both sides. In fact it worked so well that I purchased one for my co-workers to use since they all use the same printer.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I am a sporadic printer. I can go months without printing anything and then I'll have to print a thousand pages in a day. I didn't want an inkjet because the output has to be suitable for publication and inkjets are not quite up to par. Also inkjet inks tend to dry up and clog the print head when not used for a period of time. This printer has great output quality, prints fast, and is inexpensive to own and operate. I considered getting a multi-function printer but why buy a toolkit with average components when I can buy individual items that are top class. And this printer is top class.

Disappointing

Had an HP 1100 for years and it worked like a charm until it finally conked out. Definitely got my moneys worth. Bought the Brother HL2270DW so I could save $20 over an HP that looked comparable to what I had. It is much slower to respond, and almost always gives me a hard time with envelopes. Sorry I didn't spend the extra $20.

Love my new printer!

I haven't set up the wireless so can't comment on that; but love everything else, especially the duplex. There is some paper curling, but nothing that can't be flattened out. Had a Samsung color laser printer that suffered paper jams all the time, so the always-works Brother is a wonderful change. And much much faster. And quieter. The manual is as helpful as the ones on my Brother sewing and serger machines -- which is to say, really really helpful.

Very satisfying printer

My new Brother HL-2270DW does a nice job of black&white printing. I use this printer most of the time. I also have a color ink jet, but use it only when I want color. I use the Brother printer in wireless mode which gives me easy access to print from my desktop computer, my laptop, and, an unexpected surprise, from my Android tablet using an appropriate app.The automatic duplex printing is one of the reasons I bought this printer. The print quality is fine for my non-commercial home use. The printer is a little noisy, but it is fast, so the noise doesn't last long.
I would recommend this to a friend!
