I purchased this as a second printer just for printing coupons and educational materials. The purchase price was more than reasonable. I have it hooked up through the ethernet so I can use it on my laptops and desktop. It has a downloadable app so that we can print certain (limited) things from our phones as well. I've had it for just short of four months now and I print about 5-10 pages a day. I am still printing using the starter toner it came with. I had difficulty with the wireless set up so I stayed with the wired set up which works just fine for me.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Wow! What a great printer. It is fast, and the toner lasts for a very long time. It is easy to operate and prints a nice clean copy.

Wish I hadn't

A colleague at work has this so I thought it would be okay. Wish I hadn't, as my work differs. Very poorly engineered and schlocky bypass feed. Plus need to reset margins for occasional non-standard size paper without emptying and refilling bin, as the bypass feed works in center of printer. My fault for not realizing that unlike ink-jet machines label sheets can not be passed through repeatedly; I often want to do just a few labels on a sheet then reuse the sheet.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This printer is so much better than the usual printers (ink jet or laser). It's about 10x faster. I wish it weren't quite so noisy. However, given how fast it is, I don't care.

Great Find

I pick up this printer due to it being and sale and costing almost the same amount as buying the 4 colored ink for my other printer. I need to print lot of stuff in black only and it was a better deal to buy this printer then refills. The printer has worked very well had no problems connecting it to all my computer in the house. Love the auto double sided print option.

Duplexer

I like the printing, it is clear and fast. However, this unit is suppose to be duplex printer automatically, yet it does not automatically print duplex. It only does it when you do it manually. This suppose to detect duplex automatically not when you have to do it yourself.
My friend has a HP duplex printer and print duplex automatically that the HL2270DW suppose to. Other than this major drawback that this printer suppose to do, it is a good printer. If you want to save paper, this is not the printer you should get. It does good duplexing but you need to go it every time, it does not do it automatically itself.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

very poor product. Makes very strange noises especially when it goes into sleep mode. Makes very load buzzing noises almost like there was a short during the time it was in the sleep mode..
Tried TWO units , both worked the same , poor design and made those strange loud buzzing noises. Was a MAJOR distraction using the product
RETURNED THE PRODUCT(s) , VERY POOR DESIGN AND QUALITY

I purchased this printer in January 2014. After four months it stopped printing wirelessly. First I contacted my computer company (Dell) tech support. After two hours of checking possible problem in the computer she found none and since the printer did work with USB cable, she suggested to contact Brother. Brother's tech support conducted the same procedures Dell's agent did, and decided that the problem was with the computer settings, so she referred me back to Dell. Dell's second tech support examined the settings, connection, wireless card of the computer and router and they all worked fine, so she suggested to change the printer's wireless card. I called Brother again (each call is at least 30 minutes waiting for an agent), and when eventually the agent responded, she started going over the same procedures again. I asked to replace the printer but she insisted on going over these two hour procedures again. At that point I asked to talk to a supervisor. There was no supervisor available, so the agent assured me that they would call me, which, unsurprisingly, never happened. So I called Brother again, and after 30 minutes waiting, I was connected to an agent. He asked for my problem, and while I was telling him the problem, he hang up on me. Poor machine, useless tech support, rude agents.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
