A real value

I bought this to replace an older Brother laser printer, and have been completely satisfied with its performance. Setting it up for wireless printing took a bit of work, but the Brother tech support folks were very helpful in diagnosing the problem and getting me up and running. For the money it's hard to beat this product.
I would recommend this to a friend!

The output tray feels cheap and unsubstantial. Printing cards from rear input tray is often difficult to make work.
All other features are above average.

Great Printer

Great printer. Like double sided printer with no need to reinsert paper to print second side, unlike older Brother HL-1440.
Toner saver mode adequate for most printing, especially text.
Why not provide instructions to extend cartridge life of cartridge that comes with-found on internet.? Plan to get high volume cartridge soon.
Have not set up wireless yet. Plan to use ethernet connection on one PC, and wireless on other. Not sure yet whether both can have files waiting to be printed at same time. I know you can't do on same PC.

A Good Workhorse

I really like this printer. It is a workhorse. It prints clearly and quickly. It takes a couple of minutes to warm up. The reason I gave it only 4 stars was depending on the print on the internet sometimes it is lighter than I would prefer. Otherwise a great printer.

Great laser printer!

I bought this printer because I have used up the two earlier models in the same series.
They always work, quickly with great prints.
I bought a scanner/printer/fax (mfc-j430w) for color things but the B/W printer gets the most use.
I tried another brand because it was on killer sale but it didn't last thru the "training" ink.
I did have some issues on this printer when I first got it but tech support walked me thru it quickly.
If you ever need tech support, these people are the best!
They always work, quickly with great prints.

Excellent Printer

I've been using ink jet printers for years in my office, but I've gotten tired of the prices of the ink despite some manufacturers' efforts to "reduce" ink costs. I saw this printer and bought it. I'm really glad I did. It's slick and works without hassles. It's cheaper than any ink jet I've ever used. It prints quickly with good quality, and I very much like the wireless option--so handy. I like this printer enough that I bought a second one--one in my home office, and one in our study. I don't miss the color since this is a gray-scale printer. Good printer all the way around.

Works and prints great for the price. I own two. However, I wish it were better built. The construction of the body is fairly flimsy. I truly feel that, one of thee days, the paper tray will fall apart.
