I liked this movie. It was quiet different from all of the previous Robin Hood movies most people are accustomed to seeing, but I like the historical possibility of this particular movie. It could make you just go "Hmmmmm, so that's how it really started". Reminded me of the last "Arthur" movie of a couple of years ago. I found it to be an entertaining movie with a different viewpoint from those of the past. And for what it's worth, I found Russell Crowe's accent to be more believable than that of Keven Costner, even though I like that version also. I watch movies to be entertained and don't feel the need to pick them apart scene by scene. Either they entertain or they don't. Bottom line: I really liked it.

With all the dark shots and dialog that supersedes the action sequences, I'd say this movie is definitely worth getting on DVD, but the Blu-Ray is unnecessary for this type of movie.

I think every guy has a like for the plot of robin hood and for a modern remake down with Russell Crow of all people Great Choice .... Really good movie....
What's great about it: The movie seemed genuine, not fake at all!!!
What's not so great: The ending I hope they continue the story line.

My husband bought this movie and I really didn't even want to see it. Seeing Robin Hood with Kevin Cosner so many years ago was enough for me. Also, I still see Russell Crowe as Maximus, no matter what he is in.However, once I had watched 30 minutes of it, I was hook and was looking forward to seeing what would happen next. I didn't even get the Maximus vibe from Russell Crowe. It was long and Cate Blanchett, while well acted was not a convincing Maid Marian. Still its worth a look.

Ridley Scott's "Robin Hood" has been criticized for being too long and mind-numbingly tedious. It has even been slammed for not being a swashbuckling, green-tights-and-Hollywoodized escapist lark like the old Errol Flynn movie. I, however, happen to love this "Robin Hood" like I can't tell ya. I'm a sucker for long historical films, and Scott's artistic triumph is a winner in my book. His attention to detail is legendary, and it suits his historical films nicely. I have the attention span to be able to sit through the extended director's cut, and I'm enraptured every time. This is not your grandpa's Robin Hood...thank goodness.
