What's great about it: Kinect sensor is extremely responsive and accurate. HD game play is far superior to the Wii's graphics, and no WiiMotes.
What's not so great: At $299 for a basic system and $59 per game, it's considerably more expensive than the Wii.
I have to admit that I only bought this system because the better half wanted one so badly. I was certain that the whole Kinect sensor thing was just some gimmicky feature that wouldn't work very well and would earn a place next to the Nintendo Power Glove as one of the worst gadgets in video gaming history. After reluctantly plopping down a good chunk of money on the Kinect bundle and a few extra games, though, I'm very happy to report that it works so much better than I ever thought possible! I've also never been very capable with overly complicated controllers with a gazillion buttons and knobs, so the simple voice and motion controls are a definite plus for me.
My only complaint is that (and this goes for the Wii and the PS3 Move, too) is that the Kinect games are mostly cartoony and very kid/teen centric, and the few titles aimed specifically at adults are too bloated and filled with unneccessary content. These systems have so much untapped potential for non-gaming adult users looking for a good simple cardio workout and I'd really love to see more development in this area. Something like the original Gin Miller "Step Reebok" workout adapted for interactive use with the Kinect would be phenomenal!

What's great about it: Can't cheat in Kinect games, which do work up a sweat
What's not so great: poor cooling
I bought this as a low-impact means to get some cardio exercising.
Do keep the sensor 10' away. I live in an apartment, and for one person I've had no problems, but for 2-player simultaneous games, I'd have to rearrange the furniture in my apartment to eke out the extra space.
Kinect Adventures is a nifty game that forces you to move. Unlike competitors with cute wireless controllers, you cannot cheat if you need to reach, duck, et cetera.
Kinect Sports is another great game, for by and large the same reasons.
You will work up a sweat and very easily, too.
If you've kept a sedentary lifestyle, don't get gun-ho on games right away as you might injure yourself. It takes time to build up tolerance. And playing too much too soon wears out the "fun factor" far more quickly.
If anything, this thing produces a lot of heat. Minimal effort was used for a cooling system, but I've gathered this newest version is better than the previous XBox 360 design in terms of heat dissipation. I did see a $25 add-on fan... if you keep your XBox 360 in tight quarters, get it. I will be.
Oh, if you play lots of games, get the 250GB or 320GB hard drive as well - discs can be copied to it, which speeds up loading time and reduces wear on the disc drive (but the game disc still needs to be inserted for the game to launch, unfortunately.)

What's great about it: great graphics, no need to wear sensors
What's not so great: Putting the same game for all buyers, whether boy or girl
Actually, I bought it as a gift for the daughter of my friend, aged 12. It was in her wish-list, and as XBOX 360 4G was on sale in best buy,I managed to buy it for her. After its easy installation, we played a bit with her too. It's a real must for those who've got game-lover kids, because XBOX keeps them away from just sitting down and staring at the monitor. It makes them move and even sweat, which is absolutely healthy for them. Besides, the parents themselves can use it as a device to exercise joyfully along with their kids. I guess this is a turning point for gaming technology.

I really enjoy the xbox 360 a great play machine. I love the fact the the kinect is able to take voice commands, espically when I am playing a game that doesn't require a controller. I am able to use voice commands to the various things I want it to do, even turing it off. Also through the website I have the option of downloading games directly to the system which is also a very cool thing. It prevents me for having to leave my apt, It can even allow a memory stick to be formatted to it and allow information to be stored there as well. It also has spots for more sticks to allow me for more space. I have yet to play games online, but you can connect it to facebook and conncet with friends there as well. Another great feature of the XBOX.

The Xbox Konnect is not only fun for the kids but for parents also! Family game night is more of a thing to look foward to now! Monopoly and board games are cool, but MW3 and Wipe OUt 2 are awesome!!!

I love the Xbox 360 Kinnect, but the only thing I do not like is that we have to pay for the gaming system, the games and to play online. I think playing with other players should be free once we have invested in the system and the video games.

Microsoft hides free items behind a yearly surcharge fee that you can get for free with your PC and Ps3.They have ruined the dash by trying to integrate Kinect and the new windows 8 phone look and made it AD infested and confusing.Why are there ads when you have a paid subscription fee???When you don't have ads on Ps3 and there is no subscription fee??High Def is sub par at best.Sound quality is sub par.Steer clear of the xbox 360 systems all together.Go get a Ps3

The good and the bad. The good first...
The XBOX is a "Great" gaming system. It has great graphics, easy to use functionality, and I really love the Kinect! In fact this was it's main selling point! My family was a Wii system owner until it broke down about 9 months ago. What we loved about the Wii was the "Getting into the action" it provided. But it's weakness is the XBOX strength! Full body action. What a wonderful thing. So as a gaming system I highly recommend it. But this brings us to the sad point of the system...

Everything costs extra money on it. Unlike the PS3 and the Wii, if you are a Netflix viewer you have to pay XBOX for a GOLD membership just to watch your movies. Microsoft, this is really wrong and you should take note of this! There are a lot of families that will never go your route for this reason (the paying extra for everything). Which brings us to the next weak point. There are NOT a lot of good games for young audiences, and most are very violent, so another reason many families will continue supporting the Wii. Microsoft, Xbox, learn from Nintendo, bloody death games are not the only sellers. You have kept yourselves from a huge market by denying this and not being willing to delve into this market. Back to my earlier point, the Xbox Gold membership only gets you access to the cool features on Xbox, you still have to pay for them all individually, if you want them. ESPN, not a problem, if you want to pay some more. And so it goes with everything! Which is why I say it is a great money pit! For this reason, I do no recommend the XBOX as a gaming system. And for this reason I am sad I didn't wait a little longer for the new Wii system.

XBOX 360 with Kinect is a great product. Easy to set up and works great. Lots of software available for it. Only suggestion: Buy the XBOX 360 with 250G hard drive or add the 320G hard drive. The 4 G is not enough space.

I went to purchase a game system for my househould. Told the sales person that I would like to play games, and be able to watch netflix movies. Indicated that I had an old x-box with many of the old games.
I was told X-box 360 would play my old games, and watch Net Flix.
Purchased the 360 connect 4gb. It was more expensive than the Wii or Play station option, but using old games was good and would do what we wanted. Got it home found out that it would not play the older games UNLESS you bought the expanded Memory ... ($100+ extra cost. ) Bought the memory, then the free X-box gold membership expired, and now could not watch Netflix any longer. ($9.99 a month or $59.99 a year). what made it worse is that I was offered the X-box Gold memberhip when purchasing for $20 LESS and told for online gaming..No mention of nETFLIX NEEDING IT TILL NOW.
