I bought this router to replace A Vizio HD router that started dropping the wireless after three years. Before that, the longest any router I bought would last was less than a year. Even when the Vizio was new, our media streaming would frequently drop and stall. Since we installed this Netgear router 4 months ago, we haven't experienced a single media drop. We run a desktop, two laptops, a server, two smartphones, two game consoles and two wifi Blu-Ray players on this router with almost no trouble. And if you configure your wireless card properly, 54Mbps is very, very nice to have.
Installation was fast, easy and absolutely painless, and though the system specs say it's compatible with Windows and Mac, I did all the setup and configuration on an OpenSuse Linux laptop using the web interface so easily I could almost have slept through the process.
It broadcasts wireless on two separate channels (check my terminology, please), one at 2.4g and the other at 5g. I'm not sure how many devices support 5g yet, but its presence in this router means no worries when we upgrade devices.
The one problem we did have may be more a matter of location than a function of the router. There's one spot, about 20 feet from the router, where the sofa is, that seems to have trouble holding the connection with my wife's laptop. But just behind that is my son's room, and he has no trouble with the connection with his desktop, so it's probably not the router itself. But still, make sure of your router placement. Higher up is better. Properly placed, this router seems to be the best I've tried yet.
I'd definitely recommend this router to anyone looking for a fast and easy home or small business router. Not for a large network, of course, but it handles all our devices with ease.

I actually went into BBY to buy a cisco router. But when I got there this router was right below it. I wanted the Cisco E2000 but this one boasted better data rates and was much cheaper. Thanks to the sale I got this great product. I am an IT Systems Administrator so my opinion on how easy it was to setup may not be the best gauge. Although, I will say it is extremely easy to setup. The web interface is great. I didn't even realize, until I got home, that this router has 3 seperate wireless networks all with their own SSIDs. I setup one for my internal network of computers, one for my gaming consoles and there is a handy 3rd one. It actually creates an isolated network that cannot communicate back into your internal network. This is good for when you want to have a guest connection for friends to get on when they are over. I hide the first 2 and broadcast the 3rd. I use my Cisco 7921 wireless VoIP phone on it as well and the connection is amazingly clear unlike my old router.
All in all, extremely glad I bought this.

What's great about it: Got it as a good deal on Black Friday.
What's not so great: There is not enough security to protect it from hackers.
My router got hacked into from three different sources,one from China, one from Pennsylvania and one from California..My son was checking the log ins and noticed that someone had gotten into our router even though we had it password protected and we have security protection on our comps.The main hacker was the one in China.My son found out all the hacker's info through using some program he knows.The hacker was flooding our comp.We kept knocking the hacker off and he kept vigorously trying to get back into our router and he did! so,we had to disconnect everything fast.We called Netgear and they are the worst in customer service.They did not know anything and they would not help us at all.I had to get rid of this router and buy one from a different company with security installed into it for about the same price this one is.

What's great about it: Wonderfully simple to set up
I was terribly nervous about hooking up a router as I had never done it before. The worry was for nothing. It was extremely easy. Follow the simple instruction (with illustrations) and it walks you through the rest. We use it for our laptop and our Wii. I like to catch up on missed t.v. episodes by watching online. This router gives us great connection and never pauses to buffer. Allows our laptop to work in any room of our house and I can also use it while in our yard.

It is a value for price product. We've been using this for a month or so. We connect around 4 laptops to it.. and never faced any issue with the speed or performance. There is considerable improvement in speed we observed compared to our old router.

This router was extremely easy to set up. Basically, it was plug and play. Unfortunately, if you didn't want the default name and default identification code, then it becomes hard to change it. I took the defaults, since I couldn't figure out how to change the name and codes. It works well but I am getting 25 mbps with the router instead of the 35 mpbs with the ethernet connection. My ip quotes up to 50 mpbs but I am happy with what I have. Over 15 mpbs is almost instantaneous. I would buy this router if you want one you can set up yourself.

After reading some mixed reviews I decided to get this wireless router anyway. So far it has performed to my expectations. It performs as advertised. The range is excellent too. I have Directv and did noticed that I lost the internet connection once I installed this router. In order to establish the connection again, all of you have to do it reset the network connection from the Directv box directly. Once that is done, Directv will connect to the router.

I bought this on an in store recommendation from the Geek Squad as a replacement for an old Linksys G Router and was not dissappointed. It was extremely easy to set up and within 20 minutes or so I had two desktops, a laptop, an iPad, a smart phone and TV all connected. I also purchased a Netgear USB adapter for a desktop that doesn't have built in wireless capabilities and it also worked like a charm.
I haven't had one connection issue with any device on the system in the month that I've had it hooked up.

This was an extremely easy set up. Much easier than installing from a CD like my previous one. Would recommend changing password to "admin" so people can't see your SSID password. Also has a really good range. Worth the little extra cash for the router.
