Awsome camera, except..

This camera would be perfect except, you have to feed it batteries! No rechargable Lithium Ion for it!!!
Those rechargable AA's, yah they only last about 10-15 minutes if your useing the HD video recording. I found that the only batteries that last are the Energizer Ult. Lithium, which cost 10-15 bucks a pop! And they will get you an hour or so for the HD.
It could have been perfect.........
Pros: Good Low-Light Performance, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: Short battery life
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Needs Help with Video Focus
on June 11, 2011

Overall good camera.
My "biggest" complaint is with the video focus. Tried mounting it on a tripod (stationary) - same blurred results. More noticeable when the camera is used indoors. Produces "better" videos when used outdoors.
I have owned several Canon cameras (all video capable). An older version of this camera (SX110) takes much better videos.
Battery life is not an issue as I have been using rechargeable NiMH batteries (I always carry a few). There is, however, a slight delay in getting the camera ready to take the next picture when the flash is used - same results whether I use fully charged batteries or not.
Pros: durable, Lightweight/Portable, easy to use
Cons: Poor Low-Light Performance, video focus out of whack
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great features for pcie

Loved this camera on our recent cruise. Great photo quality with with 12X optical zoom was fabulous for taking pictures from moving boats, buses, ferries, etc. I would highly recommend this camera. Have taken some video and the quality is very good. Thought the size would be a problem, but as a trade-off for the 12X optical zoom, the size is fine. Use NiMH AA batteries which give good life. Alkaline batteries work fine in a pinch.
Pros: Good Low-Light Performance, Nice features/settings, durable

Excellent !

This is an excellent camera. Evaluation of any camera should be made in terms of price/performance, and this one is excellent in that respect. Full manual exposure controls, plus scene and automatic modes. Great photo quality. For those complaining about battery life, there are trade-offs in all types of batteries. Personally I prefer the AAA’s this camera uses – they can be found anywhere. Get a couple sets of rechargeables and you’re good to go. If you use flash often batteries are a problem on any camera. Self-timer easy to locate and use for anyone with photo experience. Images can be edited with any image-editing program. Don’t know why anyone would want to edit images and “re-upload” (a term I have never heard before). If that term means put the image back on to the card after editing and view it in the camera – yes, it is easily done. This camera produces amazing pics for the price. Some of the features may be challenging for those with no experience, but my 11 year old mastered this camera in 2 days, so it’s easy. All in all this is a winner I would recommend to everyone.
Pros: excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: Short battery life

Any photographer's starting camera

I purchased the Canon SX130IS after my SX100IS died, and I am completely satisfied. The features are great including HD Video, 12.1 MP, 12x zoom, and much much more.
The only problems I have are: the f-stop range is more limited than my old camera, probably due to the 12x vs. 10x zoom, and you can hear the buzzing of the motor in the audio while zooming in videos. Furthermore, there is no way to add an external microphone to the camera.
After purchasing and using this camera, I am very pleased with it. It has great features, a few setbacks, but is a very good starter camera to anyone looking to upgrade in the future to the EOS line. I would definitely recommend this camera.
Pros: Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu, easy to use, 12x zoom, hd video, stereo sound, fair low-light performance, good starter camera
Cons: autofocus and zoom motor can be heard in video, limited f-stop range

Great purchase

I love this camera, I have never had a Canon, but I love it. It has a professional look and feel but easy to use. The only downfall is that the battery life is so short (double A's required). Any function that is referenced in the Quick Guide that refers to the User Manual is diffuicult to utilize because the camera doesn't come with a manual nor do they have one online or is it on the CD that comes with it. Other than that, this camera is fantastic.
Pros: easy to use, wide screen, great zoom
Cons: no user manual, Short battery life, manual flash

This is my first venture into a "real" camera I have done the box camera and I can tell you that it is AMAZING I love the clear pictures as well as the HD video playback!! I will continue to buy Canon with my next camera.
Pros: excellent picture quality, great options in how to use the camera, very user friendly
Cons: battery life is poor esp. with flash and video, takes awhile to recharge flash

Good Compromise

First, I too, would like a hard copy manual that I don't have to print myself. Or, at least, be able to cut and paste the parts I do want to use.
However, overall, I am very happy with this camera. Huge improvement on zooming capability for wildlife. I have been able to capture some amazing photos of birds and other wildlife.
Still working on learning all the features but some I love-
quick button for video
easy preview
zoom out button to find subject and zoom back quickly
P is ready to go with your favorite settings
Low light did a decent job even at night, caught an artic fox in moonlight.
Vivid - enhances the colors on a dreary day
Delay shooting with a wink or a smile!
This camera has been lots of fun and has allowed me to capture some wonderful pictures of nature.
Pros: good battery life, Good Low-Light Performance, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, durable, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
I would recommend this to a friend!
