Video and zoom

Good image quality. good zoom and good 720p video w/stereo. Miniature mode, Awesome. . quality build. nice size. burns through Alkaline batteries very fast. Got some NIMH rechargables, they last much longer. bought the camera because the sales person was very enthusiastic, had one herself. She showed me photos and video she shot kids school program. It looked nice. However Slow operation, 1fps continuous and poor low light performance take away from an Overall very good value/ high quality product.
Pros: Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, durable, easy to use, hd video w/ stereo
Cons: Dim LCD, Poor Low-Light Performance, Short battery life

Great Camera - But

Great replacement for my older Canon Camera. Has all the controls in order to take great pictures. Learning curve has been a bit steep. My only real gripe is battery usage.
Cons: Short battery life

I love this camera, easy to use, ready with flip of the swithch, no battery's to charge. Big screen to take pictures. Value unbeatable for all you get. I highly recommend this camera. Spend a little extra and get a super buy with this camera. I can't say how much we have enjoyed the picture quality and beautiful prints. 5 star all the way. NO CONS on this camera. It's value all the way. If your looking for a nice camera for a great price this is the one>

Very impressed with this Canon Camera

I have had my SX130IS for about a month, I am very impressed with the camera and its features. Easy to use and excellent features like the "face detection" I have two earlier models of the Powershot and a few SLR film Canon cameras and lenses, I am glad I got it and have been using it since day one! I am impressed with the lens and what I can do with it. If you are looking for a camera that offers good features without breaking the bank, this is it, look no more. Thanks Canon!

Musician Band and Theatre Use

6/9/12 - I've been using this camera for over a year now and have come to some pretty clear conclusions and what I would like in the next camera I buy. All of the features that are described on this website are clear and work as described except two items. Auto-focus under low light circumstances is better than other companies I've tried but with the camera on a fixed tripod and the band or players on stage, sometimes it tries to refocus and it takes approximately 1-3 seconds. For the the cost I think its better than the others but could be better. The sound it pics up is incredible for even loud places like bars or festivals. I've actually used the sound as another track for mixing when i needed to catch the audience perspective. The biggest complaint I have is the governed 10 continuous minutes of HD movie shooting. When I'm recording my kids plays, I have to ask them where I can start and stop the camera within 10 minutes so I don't miss parts. I have a 32G card inserted so I could easily go longer than that if the camera allowed. Also the battery life is about 15 minutes when shooting HD movies. I don't do it unless I use the power cord (not supplied). Also, the camera cannot switch from battery to AC without shutting down and restarting.

great camera but flawed

Ive had Canon Power Shots for several years .. good service.
The short battery life is compensated by the fact that you can get Lithium AA batteries almost anywhere.
BUT.. be careful.. easy to scratch lens and the battery door latch ( plastic) will easily break if the camera is dripped on its corner.. even from a few inches . No replacement and this will make the camera virtually useless.
