Excellent Camera

I just bought an sx130 is about a week ago. This camera takes better pictures than my Olympus E-420. There is plenty of goodies to play with if your a more experienced user. If your a beginner the easy mode does everything for you. I love this camera and the battery issue is solved if you buy energizer ultimate lithium batteries...they last forever. If your thinking about it, get this camera.

Why tries to re-focus while filming Video

A very good budget camera. Pleasing experience in first week of use - with one exception. It tries to re focus arbitrarily while filming video (HD) - spoiling the fun of making the video.
Pros: latest features good value for money, over all satisfactory
Cons: tries to re-focus while filming video - why?, this causes a lot of trouble and lost all the fun, of making video.

Bad indoor video

Nice camera for indoor and outdoor pictures. Great outdoor video quality. Noisy and slow optical zoom. Terrible indoor video quality!! It has trouble focusing, if on tripod keeps refocusing every 4 seconds, blurry. Canon representative recommended to disable video auto stabilizer, but it made no difference. I ended up bringing it back. I definitely don’t recommend this camera. And yes I have other Canon cameras to compare with.
Pros: good indoor and outdoor pictures. g, good outdoor video
Cons: terrible indoor video quality
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Started out as a great camera,but!

Had this camera for two months and then the screen went blue or pink when first turned on and would not focus . Returned for a replacement and hope it works like my other Canon Cameras that I have had for years . This should be a great camera and has a lot of control for the user to take great photos .

Perfect workhorse

I use my Canon to take photos to illustrate technical documents for power plants. On site the Canon is rugged, easy to use one-handed, and takes great photos in lousy lighting conditions. I especially appreciate that it runs on AA batteries - no matter how far out in the country I am, I can find batteries. I love my Canon.

Love all the features

This camera is perfect for me, a mom who just wants to take good pictures of her kids. All of the different features are fun to experiment with. After skimming the online manual and playing around with it, it was extremely easy to use. My favorite feature has to be the zoom. I can take beautiful close ups of my son in portrait mode with out being on top of him when he doesn't want his picture taken. I really haven't noticed a problem with the batteries as others have commented. I have the rechargeable Nimh batteries and they seem to last long enough. Looking forward to taking pictures of my newborn in just a few weeks!

Quality camera at a great price

I am very happy with the quality of this camera. I like the ability to utilize manual settings with a point and shoot. This is a really nice feature in a camera at this price point. While the camera takes really great shots in settings with lots of light, it also is very good in low light situations. I like the ability to raise or lower the flash myself instead of the flash going off automatically in questionable lighting. I made decision to buy this camera at last minute and was a bit apprehensive of using a camera with manual settings but now find all the features fun to use. Just be sure to invest in some rechargeable batteries and you're all set. The only thing I wish it had is a viewfinder.

Love the camera..!

I really like this camera! But, annoyed with short battery-life , especially when using video feature! Constantly needing to change batteries!!
