Good Camera for the money

The Canon SX130 was purchased to replace my old Canon A630, which had been the best camera I ever owned. The SX130 is similar in features and performance, but lacked the articulating LCD which I used and loved on my old A630.
I found the image size options to be lacking. My old camera offered more size settings. The SX130 has middle sizes of 2816x2112 and 1600x1200, but my old A630 offered 2048x1536, which was a much better size for me.
The stronger 12X zoom was a plus over my old camera. Image quality was about the same, both being very good.
The SX130 was easy to use because most of the controls and settings were similar to my old camera. The flip-up flash was a nuisance in some ways, but helpful in that it was an easier way to turn off the flash -- the old A630 required me to program the flash off.
I've not used the camera long enough to judge the low-light quality or the battery life.
The lack of an articulating LCD is my biggest disappointment, but overall it is a good and easy to use camera for the money and I would recommend it.
Pros: excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu, easy to use, nice zoom range
Cons: Missing features/settings, lacks articulating lcd

This is my 2nd Power Shot digital camera. I have been using it for 2 months. It is easy to use. I like the camera stabilization system. The different picture modes are easy to use. The only problem I have had is that the memory card has become locked and I have lost a few practice shots because I had to reformat the disk. It runs on 2 AA batteries. I had experienced overheating with another brand camera. So far the Power Shot has not had any problems with over heating. The Power Shot is a consistant economical camera for photographing daily life,
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, durable, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: problem with formatting memory disk

I use CHDK with the SX130 IS and develop images which are typically indistinguishable (when shot at ISO 80) from those from a DSLR. If you can still find this model in stores (it has since been replaced by the SX150 IS) grab it! One more thing - use "hybrid" (also known as "pre-charged") batteries in this camera and you will typically get 300 shots per charge.
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, durable, chdk compatible
Cons: slow flash recycle time

Nice step up from basic point & shoot

I bought this camera as an addition to my Olympus freeze proof, water proof, shock proof camera. While that camera is good for adventures, I was looking for something that would take nice quality photos of my friends, family and baking creations without the cost of a SLR. I bought this camera and began shooting with it and taking very nice pictures in the auto modes and scene guides. Looking for a little more info, I signed up for a digital photography class at a camera shop to learn more about the manual functions of the camera. Class was great and I learned a lot, however, I was disappointed that this camera wouldn't take some of the pictures I wanted to take. For instance, I really wanted to take portraits with a blurry background by setting a short aperture. Unfortunately, this camera only has a f 3.4, which doesn't seem small enough to get the effect I'm looking for. I believe a SLR would be needed to really get that effect. However, the portraits it does take are lovely in any mode, the colors are vibrant and its quite easy to use, so I would feel comfortable handing it to someone to get in a shot. One of the biggest Cons is that it seems to eat batteries. This could be because I'm practicing and turning it on and off and fiddling with the settings quite a bit. I'm going to be getting rechargeable batteries so at least I won't be throwing away a set of AAs every day. Overall, I would recommend this camera
Pros: easy to use, beautiful pictures
Cons: eats batteries, not short enough aperature

The SX130 is to supplement our Canon SX100. We love the zoom capabilites of these Canons and the SX130 has an even more powerful zoom. Pictures are always sharp and clear. We do need to learn how to use the other camera settings to make full use of the camera. We gave both of our daughters an SX camera and they all receive very heavy use.
Pros: good battery life, excellent image quality, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
I would recommend this to a friend!

Very good camera for the money

Although I have only had this camera for approximately two months, I am very pleased with its ease of use right out of the box. The menu is very easy to understand, and pictures very easy to focus and snap. I had read the "cons" involving the battery life, but, as I have only had this camera a short time, I cannot comment on that; however, I did notice in the manual the suggestion for Canon batteries with a very extended life, and I plan on purchasing those before vacation. I have already recommended this camera to several friends. The camera is a bit larger than the "wallet" type digital cameras, but I still can carry it in my purse.
Pros: Good Low-Light Performance, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, durable, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: Heavy/Bulky
I would recommend this to a friend!
