Upgrade from Rebel T1i - Great!
on May 31, 2013

We've only had the 60d about a week, but are lifelong Canon owners. We love this camera. The LCD is bright, versatile, user friendly. It is a little bit heavier than our T1i, but the advantages far outweigh this minor issue. We are looking forward to using the wireless transmitter for the slave Speedlights, and the photos we have taken to date have been outstanding. This is an early review of this camera for us but thus far we are thrilled with the performance of the Canon 60d. I had heard good things about this camera from other owners and now I understand why.
Pros: good battery life, quiet, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Simple controls/menu, easy to use

AMAZING!!!

I have owned Canon cameras my whole life and this is the best I've ever had. I am big into videography and this HDSLR delivers. I placed this on a CamCaddie Scorpion the first day and headed up to the local mountain and shot some amazing footage of my bros shredding. The wireless flash is also another amazing feature. I can now place my 580 EX II and 2 430 EX II on their shoes and have great lighting all around. This makes for great night time action shots. Over all I am extremely pleased with the camera and its capabilities. P.S. BG-E9 Battery Grip is a must. What a great way to shoot vertically!!!
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Lightweight/Portable, easy to use
Cons: none!

Phenomenal Upgrade for Serious Amateur
on September 24, 2012

I consider myself a "serious amateur" photographer and love to capture youth-sport-action shots. I constantly seek the best shot possible and get a great rush when I capture "the right moment". After a long hiatus from SLRs, I purchased a Rebel XS and was quickly yearning for more capabilities. I compensated for the cameras shortcomings by adding 'low light' lens to my collection but still continued to struggle... I finally decided to take the plunge and purchased an EOS 60D as a replacement. WOW !!! The high burst speed and increased ISO range allows me to capture shots that my old camera never could. I can't wait for my daughters' next dance recital!
Pros: Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation
Cons: Heavy/Bulky, Complicated controls/menu

Best DSLR for the price!

I had two dslr before this one but this is the best DSLR I have ever owned! I have absolutely no complaints about this camera! It is perfect in everyway, by which I mean pictures and video. The quality of the finished work on this camera is spectacular! This camera will work for anyone, an amature or a professional. The tilt screen is amazing and very helpful. I thought I wouldn't put that screen to good use, but I do. This camera is such a quick and easy camera to work with. All the modes are super easy to understand to get yourself that perfect shot! I love the size of the camera as well. I'm a bigger guy with a pretty big hand, so it fits perfect for me.
Pros: good battery life, quiet, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use

Noise issues
on January 28, 2011

Love the camers!... but experienced extensive noise in raw images opened in Photoshop CS5. Talked to Canon rep and he advised opening in Digital Photo Professional as Photoshop has software which may increase noise levels when opening a Canon CR2 file. Worked much better! Canon tech support is really good! Thanks!!!!
Pros: quiet, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, Solid Operation, easy to use, good image quality

//// Technically Efficient \\\\

Okay, today I had a chance to walk around with this camera for a couple of hours, and I have to say lighter is better. I could actually carry in my bag a Wide-Angle and Portrait 85mm 1.2 Lens without any arm or shoulder fatigue. The Vari-Angle Screen help out with alot of over the head camera shots, while using LiveMode!! Not only great pictures, but great video clips made for a very interesting day full of pictures I couldn't take with a regular camera. I actually couldn't wait to get home to play with all the images and video!! If your a professional you might not use this camera, but then again if you are a professional you might want to consider it, because it packs a mighty punch!!! As long as you have the Right Lens, I don't see why this camera can't go all the way!!!!
Pros: quiet, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu
Cons: Missing features/settings, Poor build quality

Best camera to upgrade from the Rebel series.

After using a Rebel XSi, I needed an upgrade that had more features and amazing quality. It was a toss up between the 7D and the 60D and I decided to go for the 60D. I really put the camera through a rigorous test during my trip to DC and I was amazed at how clear the photos turned out especially photos that showed depth of field. The video feature was great as well however I really didn't use that as much as I wanted. Great camera overall!
Pros: good battery life, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, easy to use

Great Camera

I have used this camera for a little less than a year. It does a very good job. This camera was purchased to replace a camera that had become obsolete. I could not be happier with the purchase. Although I don't backpack with it most of my work is done outdoors. I haven't had the dust problem some speak of and I live in the desert. Lot's of dust, static electricity and wind and no problems. I have found the images to be as sharp as can be expected. If you use a tripod and good camera practice you should get excellent results. I could not be more satisfied. In fact I have used it as well as the 5DMkii and they are very comparable. One of my favorite features is the reticulating viewing screen. I wish it had a built in PC socket.
Pros: good battery life, quiet, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
