Uneven toasting

I bought this toaster six weeks ago and it doesn't toast both sides evenly. With the price of the unit it should perform much better. The bagel setting works good but the regular toasting setting toasts one side much more than the other.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Center heating element

The center heating element seems to run hotter that the outer elements.. Bread is darker on one side.. Result??? I have to watch to make sure the toast doesent burn..

Great design! Bad performance!

The Good - I love the design and stainless steel finish! The Bad - I purchased this toaster over a year ago and have never been satisfied with the performance of the product. I would have returned it if I had not thrown away the box it came in. It does not toast evenly and bread has to be reversed in slot in order to obtain anything near even toasting. Needless to say, it must be watched carefully or you end up with burnt toast.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The toaster is aesthetically nice and toasts well-enough; however, it could use a few
design improvements: cord should be in the back, not front; cord could be about an
inch longer; and crumb tray should be in the front, not back - it would be easier to
access.

GREAT PRODUCT - WHY SUCH POOR REVIEWS?

I've only had my 2 slot toaster for a few days, but it toasts on both sides just fine and the product stickers came off without leaving any marks. If you use the "bagel" setting it only toasts on one side by design, so maybe that's the problem some users were having. I took the stickers off my toaster immediately and there were no marks on the stainless steel finish; my guess is removing the stickers after first use may be causing the sticker glue to leave a residue on the finish.
Otherwise, toasts great, looks good and seems to perform as advertised.

This is a really nice toaster!
Well-built, looks safe, and toast evenly.
The price is really high, but I decided to buy it after I saw a reviewer claims that both of her Calphalon toaster survived more than twenty years!
The product looks sturdy. If it last, it worth the price!
One reminder is that when you first use this toaster, turn it to 3 instead of the recommended 6, or it is likely that you will burn your bread.
The recommend output is way too high!

Great Toaster

My husband and I were looking for a stainless steel toaster to go with our other appliances when we can upon this. It works great and it's easy to clean. It also toasts bagels and it has a lot of settings to adjust the toasting.
I would recommend this to a friend!

only issue is the chrome finish on the top is hard to keep fingerprint and clean. would have liked either dark or stainless finish like the side.
also the 2 small stickers on the front of the toaster that are there for advertisement on the new toaster left a slight shadow (residue?) on the front. they easily pealed off but left a shadow on the finish that I had to use a light cleaner (goo-gone for plastic) ... tried a light cleaner (endust for electronics) which can even clean monitor screens but that did not work nor a soapy sponge.
** note to the reviewer with issues of toasting only one side *** make sure you are not using the BAGEL setting. it only runs the INSIDE elements to keep the bottom of the bagel from getting toasted.
I would recommend this to a friend!
