Would highly recomend this toaster. Like the features, ie bagel etc. Like the fact that it's small and takes up very little counter space.

After suffering for many years with a dinky cheap toaster, it is a pleasure to have a beautiful, efficient toaster which makes excellent toast. All of my breads are homemade. which can make them more difficult to toast. but the Calphalon does a wonderful job. I especially like the extra-lift feature which makes it easy to remove my smaller French & Italian bread slices. I also appreciate its simplicity and lack of complicated unnecessary electronics.

Perfect for bagels, toast, toaster strudel, etc. It toasts everything evenly on both sides. Love the stainless steel look and looks great on my counter.

Other reviewers have done a fine job of explaining the features and benefits of this appliance. I can only add that Calphalon continues to impress with attention to detail and providing its customer base very high quality products at affordable price points. Next stop will be the electric grill so we can trash the Foreman that has seen better days. Thanks Calphalon and please stay the course.

Gluten free bread

This toaster has a nice wide range of settings, but has some limitation when toasting gluten free bread. G F bread tends to be smaller in area, and as a result the edges always come out much browner than the main part of the slice. The main part is evenly toasted. Our previous toaster, a Betty Crocker, did not have this problem, and was also cooler to touch.

It seems that there is residue on the heating elements from manufacturing or shipping. The first time I tried using it the elements smoked and gave off a bad odor. I assume after a few cycles it will be OK, but not being able to eat the first few things you toast in it (because of the odor) is a drag.
