Great value for price - minor drawbacks

I've got L glass but wanted something a bit cheaper for a carry around lens. Now bear in mind I'm comparing this to a 200-400mm f/4.5 and a 17-35mm f/4 lenses. The sharpness of the efs 18-135 is phenomenal for the price. The lens does have a drawback in that when it's at full range there is significant vignette if one uses a filter/polariser which means that you have to crop out the vignette. A pain and Canon should have accounted for this. There is minor chromatic aberration but this is easily fixed in POST or using on camera settings e.g. On a T5i etc. The lens produces very sharp images and I would say very close to the L glass that I have. It's significantly lighter and has ultrafast and accurate focussing. This is my go-to lens and I've done some remarkable large pan landscape s using it. Highly recommended for value for what you get. Even though it's an EFS which means you can only use it on crop-factor cameras, it's still worth the price !!

Fine Lens

This lens is a great value, especially if you are willing to shoot RAW. It produces good sharpness across it's range of focal length, peaking at about 35mm. Stopping down to F/8 produces the sharpest images. Color and contrast are very good.
This lens does produce noticeable chromatic aberration, distortions and vignetting at certain focal length/f stop combinations, but these can be completely rectified by shooting RAW and processing with Canon's software or even within the camera body itself for vignetting if your camera supports peripheral illumination compensation.
I have used this lens for 4 month now on my Canon T2i shooting outdoor scenes, portraits and my grandkids playing. I am very happy with it. If you don't mind putting in extra time/effort processing RAW images, I would highly recommend this lens to the amateur photographer. It will produce very nice results.

This canon EF 18- 135 is just like a fixed lens on my camera, because it provides mostly of what i need in capturing a photograph. For a standard zoom lens, i recommend this one for you, this is efficient and fantastic.

I purchased a Canon 7D Mark II with this lens. I went to a surf contest the next weekend and shot well over 2000 pics for the day and both lens and camera performed flawlessly and I am very pleased with the pictures taken. A great purchase!!

My husband bought the Rebel T6S for me as a gift and this lens was part of the bundle. It delivers sharp, crisp photos each time. I have never had a problem with it. It has now become part of my favorite camera arsenal. Love it.

Great kit lens
on July 28, 2011

I got this lens with my 60D, it is a great starter lens. As a kit lens the range is a big plus. When I am not using the LCD srceen the auto focus is fast, I have since started using manual focus becasue it seems to be better for me. The lens is pretty sharp, not the sharpest but still really good. Took this lense to Vegas, the Grand Canyon and Singapore got great picutres with it and I dont have a single complaint about the lens.
Pros: Fast auto-focus
