Bought to record backups and old Audio CDs

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My old DVD writers were not working on Windows 10. So I needed a replacement. Windows 10 is a huge problem with writers in general and this one is working fine for me. The device tray is like the provided with any laptop (not mechanical). It's ultra light and small. Very portable. I didn't have to install any soft or driver for it to work.
Pros: Performance, Quality, easy to use
I would recommend this to a friend!

No more! I use it on a Mac and I paid the same price
as a PC user but it's very obvious LG doesn't support
any of the extra features available to PC users.
The buyer doesn't know this till you get it home. Go to LG support for this device for evidence. Mac is not mentioned once.

This LG DVD Writer wasn't bought with the intent on making backups. I bought it for installing operating systems on machines I work with frequently. It is a life saver! I have used it as a write since and have zero issues. It's solid and portable as well as working with older and newer systems. Overall, this portable handy helper makes life a lot easier!
Pros: Performance, Style/Design, easy to use, Quality

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The packaging indicated it was for Mac, and it plays media but the software CD included is for PC only so I had to go to a website and download some software which will only let me duplicate 5 minutes of a DVD. I have limited computer skills and so I need to maybe go to the library to get help with the copy process. I would have liked more user friendly assistance than being directed to a couple websites.

Software issue

I have purchased 2 of these over the last year. I thought that I must have damaged the 1st one as it quit working almost immediately. Recently, I purchased another one only to have it quit the day I brought it home. It seems that when you install the included software, it automatically checks for BIOS updates and begins installing without asking and giving you time to shut down any other programs. I don't know if this is only an issue with Windows 10, but if you buy one, DO NOT INSTALL THE LG TOOLBOX or you will wind up with a throw-a-way.
