New out of the box

Would not recognized brand new black ink cartridge .All printers today are a piece of work. Not worth the money for the units or the ink cartridges. The companies are stealing from the general public with the garbage that is on the market.I guess the best way to have printing done is at the print shops. No units to get headaches over or the useless expensive cartridges that stop working with have full with ink.

I hate this printer

I am very unhappy with this printer. The reason I purchased it was for the wi-fi, so I could print from my desktop Mac to my printer. The printer and computer are always searching for each other, even though they are 5 feet away from each other. I have to turn the printer off and disconnect the wifi setting on my computer EVERY TIME I want to print.
I am very unhappy and frustrated.

Installation nighmare

Very disapointed because my previous experiences with Epson products have been overwhelmingly positive.
1. The CD-supplied software crashed Windows, so I tried downloading the latest software from Epson. It took *1 hour* to download.
2. Downloaded software crashed, too. Tried rebooting, reinstalling a few times.
3. Had to use Windows System Recovery.
4. 4 hours later, used Windows "Add a Printer" and it worked with no problem. But had to update other software affected by the System Recovery.
5. Installed on my wife's PC, took 2 attempts after hanging at 12% complete twice. Took another hour to download to her machine.
6. Works with much less fuss with her iPhone than my Android phone. This should be made more clear to Android users. To print with Android, you must download specific apps for your device, register your device with Epson and/or Google for Cloud-enabled printing, and even then NOT ALL ANDROID APPS WILL PRINT.
Why we still have these headaches in 2014 boggles the mind. Voyager, launched 37 years ago, has crossed the heliopause and can communicate with NASA. I can't easily make my phone print an email.

Difficll to print after cartridge change
on July 19, 2015

I had to call the company to get the printer going after black cartridge ran out. Now, I replaced the color cartridges and follow ed the direction given over the phone. Had to repeat the process several times and the printing is not very good Some of the printing is real bold for a few lines and then and then the color fades.
The nicest thing is putting in the new cartridges. That is when the trouble begins.
Glad I do not have to use this for work.
I do not use very often, so I hope I can get some use out of this printer before it goes gaboom

difficult set up! then jammed
on October 10, 2012

I thought the setup would be EZ. First bad thing: paper tray fell off and I couldnt get it on correctly. Caleld customer service (very helpful - whew!) who referred me to the support site where i followed a short vide and thankfully got the tray on. Then didnt have a power cord - it doesnt come with one. Called my school's tech support folks who helped me there. Whew! so the rest of the set up was EZ, until i printed my first thing and it jammed. i have tried following the directions 4x, but it still reads "jammed". I have been trying to install/use this printer now for 5 hours and I am still stalled out. Ready to give up and return it, but right now the reality is is is jusr jammed. so i will try it again later:-(
it has been a complete pain so far.

Amazing!

One of the most amazing printers that I've ever owned. The cartridges were a little tricky at first to install, but are n't all of them? The clarity and sharpness of text printed is better than that of a laser printer. The printer itself may be compact but not it's performance!

Absolute Garbage - Avoid at all costs

This is hands-down the worst printer I have ever used. I purchased this because of the positive reviews on this and other sites but have been completely disappointed. So many bad features, I don't know where to begin. First, to print photos the printer requires that both the printer itself (via its front panel) and the computer print screen be set to photo sized paper. Thus you have to get up and go to the printer to set it when printing photos (so much for wireless printing being useful). If you do not do this, it will endlessly pull paper from the back and release it blank without telling you that there is a problem. Second the print quality is poor to terrible. Some photos print washed out, some photos print too dark - and you can never tell what is going to happen - the printed quality does not match the photo quality. Next, every once in a while the printer will fail to recognize that it can print on photo paper - so it just grabs paper, feeds it through and then tells you that you have no paper even though the back is full. Again, so much for having a wireless printer - you have to sit by it to maintain it constantly. Further, changing print cartridges is just silly. Every other printer I have had presented the cartridges automatically when you open the door - this does not. And this printer is SLOOOOWWWW. Upon start up, cartridge cleaning, or if the printing ever gets interrupted by accident it takes ages to reboot. In fact, I am sitting here writing this because my internet blinked out for about 20 seconds causing my wireless printing to stop. I began writing this when the internet came back on and the printer is still trying to restart the old print job. Absolute nightmare - save your money, buy a dot matrix instead, you will be happy that it is of better quality than this printer.
