There's a black & white button on the front of the computer, but it only seems to work for copies. Lots of colored ink wasted every time a document is printed out.

I liked my old Epson stylus® CX5400 printer so much better. But the ink nozzles clogged, and that was the end of that. The Epson WorkForce WF-2540 All-in-One Printer is a pain to use. So far the only plus is the WiFi connection, and the individual ink cartridges. When I scan from the Epson WorkForce WF-2540 All-in-One Printer to my PC pictures, can't get it to scan the object without it BLOWING the object up. The so called auto fed is a joke, it never has ran right. And the menu is difficult to navigate to say the least. And try to set it up to print a card, it's impossible. Well at least for me. My old Epson stylus® CX5400 printer could pop one out in a snap. Wouldn't recommend the Epson WorkForce WF-2540 All-in-One Printer to an enemy never mind a friend...
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

While functionality makes for a convenient package, that unit will not operate (even for scanning) without full ink cartridges is bothersome, especially since ink is used up so quickly and its replacement costs are on the high-side.
I have replaced all of the color cartridges 1x, and the black 2x with VERY MINIMAL USAGE...$OUCH!!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The printer price was good, and the installation was smooth. I am dissatisfied with the price of the ink cartridges and the small amount of ink they contain.

Epson Workforce 2540 all-in-one Printer

It works fair. It takes twice as long to scan anything and to also reduce what you are scanning. I thought it would be like the rest of my old printer/scanners with all the controls being on the display in the front of the printer. Instead of having to go through numerous steps thru the computer just to scan anything.
After I had the printer not quite three months the paper feed/support just fell off the back of the printer. Have had the printer 6 months now. No one was any where close to the printer. I can't get it back on and if it appears to be on it just falls off again.
The paper feed doesn't hold enough paper, and it is always down to 1 or 2 sheets when I need to print.
At times the highlighted areas will not pick up the highlighted color when I am trying to make a copy of a page that has highlighted areas that I need to show up.
The printer also has jamming spells, and also has spells of spitting out a blank sheet or two before printing the actual paper that was supposed to be printed.

easy to use, printing is also good. Scanning is a little slow. Also it cannot be used with double sided printing on Mac.
