All good except scan

Just set the WF-2540 up and all went well. Got it up and running in a matter of minutes and the WiFi functions very well.
The problem I am having is scanning to my new iMac . I have tried saving the scan as a PDF file and jpeg and both ways create files that cannot be opened. Also, you can only scan in color and not in black & white; not good for all situations. If I can get this problem worked out I would rate this unit a 5 out of 5 stars.

Difficult to print

Makes great copies. Works okay as fax machine.
Stinks as printer. Instruction book poorly written. Have to got back and forth to other pages to get what you want. Had problems loading on Windows 7 machine. Cant load on windows 8. Have not even attempted to figure out how to print from cell phone. Have problems getting to print from computer.

I bought this printing on March 15, 2013 it was working well but last week september 9, 2013 started showing a error in the window I don't know what happen but the printer doesn't work no more

Paper Holder

Having a paper holder (loader) in the back of the printer is awkward. Ideally, the paper holder should be at the front of the printer.

Flaws in power connection

The power connection in the back of the printer is poorly designed. The power cord comes out very easily with little movement of the printer. I am not sure if their is a way to resolve this problem. In my opinion it is a very bad design.
