wireless setup is a bear

I sure hope the print quality is good (so far it seems to be) because it took me, quite literally 6 hours to set it up.
You have to load the software CD with the drivers. Be patient. Verrry patient. It helps to turn off all your firewalls. Manually turn off your Windows firewall, even though you supposedly give the software permission to do it for you. At various points during the loading process it will pause/stall and you will be tempted to abort. I did this twice initially before deciding to try an internet download, then went back to the cd and finally got it loaded.
THAT was two hours (50 minutes of which was the final attempt at loading from the cd.) Then you have to install - connect to your wireless. Hope you have a USB cable (I did, as it happened, although they give you a work-around, if you don't.) Oh - DON'T plug the cable in until they tell you (they don't tell you that until you've probably already plugged it in.)
I kept getting error messages about my IP address being wrong so I printed out several reports (the printer worked with the cable connected) that verified I was using the right IP address. Soooo, at the 3-hour mark I resorted to troubleshooting, which advised me to uninstall the software that took me 2 hours to install. I swallowed hard & uninstalled, then set about to re-load the cd.
By the 5-hour mark, it was 2 am & I went to bed (tech support is only on-duty until 11pm ET.) FINALLY the next morning I once again made sure my firewalls were off, I re-set the WiFi connections on the printer, and tried, one last time to load software off the cd. After 50 minutes, it loaded (after stalling at the 12, 20 & 39% complete marks), and FINALLY decided the IP address was correct (same one I had used the previous night) and things are now working.
I'm not saying I did everything right (i.e. I connected the cable too soon) and I will add that the printer was moved closer to the wireless for the set-up that ultimately succeeded, which may have had something to do with it, but this is a very quirky process and I wouldn't say it is particularly intuitive. And I can't for the life of me figure out why it takes 50 minutes for the drivers to load (I have a 1-year old HP Pavilion laptop, so my hardware shouldn't be an issue.)

Most versitile printer we owned

We have been loyal Epson printers customers for over 8 years.
The current Epson printer we purchased I WF-2540. Once we learned how to use it we consider it the best printer we among the Epson printers we owned

Good quality printer. Everything we have used it for has worked fine. We do feel the ink is a bit pricey even in the 200x cartridges.

this printer was not hard to set up
just follow the instructions and have patience
. it prints beautifully. I did not have a usb cable and was able to use the Wi-Fi set up with ease.
I was surprised at myself. !!! thanks

Got for Christmas gift. It was easy to install Plug was hard to get into machine. Just followed instruction on set up sheet and it was easy. Very glad for this gift
