This cooler is the cooler to beat all others

I've had this cooler for a while now. I have had cheap coolers in the past and finally decided with my new laptop that I would spend some money on a nice one in hopes it wouldn't die in a few months. Success! This cooler keeps my high end laptop cool and prevents over heating. Even while gaming. When I first got this laptop I had over heating, uncomfortable heat from the high end graphics card and quad core processor. Now I play any game I want, use my laptop as long as I want and never have the uncomfortable heat on my lap or under my wrist. Spend the money on this cooler. You will not regret it. I've had it over a year and it's as good as day one. The only thing you'll have to adjust to is the fans. They are a bit loud. But nothing you won't adjust to quickly, and certainly worth it for the results it gives.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I have the P285U3W. It is incredibly noisy. This is my second Targus cooler. The first one died before the year was up. I am sure this one is on it's way!
Pros: stylish. works with smaller laptops.
Cons: noisy noisy fan.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Keeps Powerful Computers from Overheating!

I love this cooling fan. I tried to go with cheaper ones, but after 3 that only lasted a few weeks - know I needed to spend more money. I bought 2, one for my sister's computer that would overheat after using it for 20 minutes. She has NEVER had a problem overheating with this fan. I use mine on a very powerful HP computer that had 1 fan go out previously. Have no problems now! Spend the money - you WILL NOT REGRET IT!
Pros: powerful
Cons: cost

I bought this for a lot cheaper than the MSRP, but when I put my little ol' HP laptop on it and started gaming away I was happy with how low the heat was while the fans were active. This really really keeps things cool. So far this is working GREAT. My laptop is a lot smaller than a 17" laptop as its around 15.somthing inch screen. But if you place your laptop on this pad so the heat vent doesn't put hot air into the pad it keeps it cool.
Pros: very effective fans aren't too loud
Cons: larger than my laptop noisy fans but expected.

Way too Loud

This product hits about 71 dB (decibels) at the max level. (there's only 3 levels in this machine) (This sounds like you're on a highway in a car with windows open except the swishing sound is constant and not momentary) oh apparently this is equal to a vacuum cleaner.
65 dB at medium (it sounds like a normal Air Conditioner on maximum wind power)
=conversation at a restaurant,
52 dB at weak. (it makes this clogged or as if small metal balls bouncing on top of a metal plate sound,ticking sound)= large electrical machines.
It does cool my laptop down by 2-3 degrees celsius after 20 min. but that's on max. I don't want to listen to a vacuum cleaner for the entire time i use the laptop or even 20 min. If you want to listen to music on speakers. You gotta blast it or else you'll hear the fan.

I have a slightly different model, but have had several CHill Pads over the years. I have not found them to be noisy, and they are so effective, the laptop is downright icy.
My only complaint to Targus - modify them so they have extendable legs or something in the back to support the docking station. Right now, I have to prop my docking station up with a couple PostIt pads.
Pros: works well laptop never runs hot, very low price
Cons: usb cable broke on my prior one, needs redesign to support a docking station

I've had mine for 2 years now and I love it! Keeps my laptop cool when the graphics card is working hard. And the customer support at Targus is fantastic too, I lost one of the little rubber feet and they replaced it free of charge. Would buy again!
