after using a 35mm all manual film camera I decided it was time for a new dslr, I researched several other dslr cameras and found the T3i to foot the bill, I like the canon reputation and quality, the swivel viewing screen lets you view in just about any position, and the 18mp is great.
Pros: good battery life, quiet, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu

I am in the process to start my own photography business and this is a good camera not only to start with but to keep for a long time. The images are very clear. I work on films as well and the video mode on this camera is amazing. Overall this is an very good all-around camera.
Pros: Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use

Amazing Camera

This is my first DSLR. I bought it for the 1080 video mode. The quality is amazing even compared to my Canon Vixia HFR100 camcorder. I have always been into photography and videography, but this camera had rekindled my passion. My only complaint is that the kit lenses is quite noisy. If you hold the shutter half down in video mode it will autofocus which looks a awful and makes alot of noise (even using an external mic). I decided to manually focus during videos, but the lens is still pretty noisy if you're not extremely careful with it.
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: noisy

Almost a homerun

The Canon T3i records excellent images. The spot focusing works well for still images although images in videos moving toward or away from you will not stay in focus. The 18-55 mm lens is not parfocal. This means that when the lens is zoomed during a video, it will not maintain focus. The "live View" is difficult to use as a snapshot camera. It will sound as though a photo was taken but you must hold the button down for much longer than an instant to record an image.
The printed results of photographs are stunning.
An excellent camera.
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Lightweight/Portable, excellent photos
Cons: noisy, Difficult to use, Complicated controls/menu, will not focus and zoom while in video mode.

Game changing.

The image quality of this camera has been simply game changing. The Rebel line of cameras took a dramatic turn with the introduction of the T1i and the Canon T3i is a great update to the Rebel line. Canon has fundamentally changed the way that we capture images through outstanding sensor clarity, functionality, dependability and performance. However, the kit lens does not deserve the Canon name, it is very cheaply made both in optics and build quality.
Pros: good battery life, quiet, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use

I llove my T3i

This is my first SLR Camera. I found it to be quite user friendly; that is easy to use out of the box. The ability to get short descriptions for each setting was great at first and I'm glad I have the ability to turn the descriptions "on" or "off" as needed.
The thing I love the best is how well the camera takes pictures in low light. I was able to use the camera at a Wedding without annoying anyone by not having to use the flash. I generally never turn the flash on (yet). These pictures came out great and many people who looked at these pictures later; thought I was a professional photographer. I will be buying more lenses as I learn more about the art of photography.
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use, takes great pictures in low light
Cons: somtimes the auto focus will take a while to set
