Simply Amazing Camera
on January 9, 2012

I still own two original Canon AE1 film SLR cameras and I have owned and used a digital EOS Rebel XTi for the past 3-1/2 to 4 years. This camera was an upgrade and ... WOW what an understatement that is. From the redesign of the grip to the flip-out view screen to the numerous new features ... and the ability to do 1080P HD Video!! As I said in the title ... a Simply Amazing Camera. Whether you are a complete beginner to SLR cameras and are just using it with completely automatic settings or a seasoned veteran photographer using detailed manual settings ... the camera takes stunning pictures. Canon has again set the bar very high with this latest addition to the EOS line.
Pros: ease of use, redesigned grip, video, numerous automatic modes, numerous manual modes, fps speed, many many more
Cons: price

So happy with my T3i
on September 13, 2011

I recently purchased the T3i and am very pleased with its performance. I bought the camera at a big box retail store bundled with 18-55mm and 55-250mm lenses and was able to purchase it for much less than the advertised price. This camera is easy to use and the menu's are very intuitive. If you are at all familiar with DSLR's you'll easily have the menus figured out in about a half hour. Start shooting and playing with it and everything just flows. Out of the box I took it to my Son's marching band rehearsal and captured wonderful images in minutes. I've only had it a few weeks and already taken about one thousand images. The larger, articulated LCD screen is worth the extra $ compared to the T2i. Well worth the money in comparison to the nearest competitor which, unfortunately has inflated ego prices due to their supposed "high quality" lenses. This camera takes superior, sharp, high color images at 18 megapixels (try to match that). Outstanding quality for the price. Keep looking around, you'll come back to the T3i – guaranteed. Canon's got a real winner here.
Pros: good battery life, quiet, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use, blows the competition away

The Best Choice For Serious Camera Users
on March 15, 2011

After 38 years of using Canon cameras, I admit my bias towards Canon products up front in any discussions. The Canon T3i is at a price point where I could justify the price versus performance ratio for a camera that offers video and still digital images. The Canon 60D was probably slightly higher in cost but all of the related items needed (batteries, grip etc) adds too much money to the mix. The difference in the end result is more dependent on the choice of lenses and that's where more money will be spent than on a camera body. The18-55 mm lens is pretty good but Canon lenses are not cheap, which means that I choose to compromise on the lens side of the equation. The choice of canon lenses is either a pro series glass or sightly above basic lenses...there are almost no middle ground quality choices in the $300 to $400 range.
Canon makes outstanding flash units. Of course, the built in T3i flash is good only as a fill light or close in flash photos, so a Canon external flash is going to be needed for anything serious. The 430EX II is both flexible and accurate supplement to any canon camera in my experience.
Overall, the smart thing that Canon did do correctly is to build on the T2i platform instead of venture off in another direction. For that reason, I think the T3i is a good buy.
Pros: Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Solid Operation, easy to use
Cons: lens choices

honestly, if you already have a T2i. keep it. the T3i is $100 more expensive for like 1 or 2 minor features and a swivel screen, thats it. performance wise, same. its up to you
Pros: good battery life, quiet, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use

Good for video, but worth buying over T2i?
on November 7, 2011

I use Canon DSLRs for movie/film making, and the Canon T3i is definitely a good buy. It has amazing video quality, and good features. However, is this camera worth the extra hundreds over the T2i? My answer: not really. This camera is fantastic, but it has the same amount of megapixels, frame rates, and other basic features as the T2i. Unless the swivel screen is that important to you, I would just go with the T2i. If you have the money for a 60D, buy it. It's a lot better than the T3i and T2i for all basic purposes.
Pros: great quality images, great quality video, easy to use, durable, high quality product
Cons: expensive, not enough improvements over t2i

EOS Rebel T3i

I am an older user and with mostly point and shoot experience. It takes beautiful pics in basic mode but also allows me to advance in simple steps to more advanced phortography. Also the T3i is relative easy for an older senior to use.
Pros: Fast auto-focus, Superior build quality, Super-sharp images, goog instructions
Cons: manual print too small

Growing With Canon
on April 6, 2011

This camera has been an absolute blessing to me. I absolutely adore it! I've been shooting with Canon for about a year, although it may be a short period of time, I have learned that it's the best camera company. I first started with a nice PowerShot, then grew into my photography. I decided it was time for a DSLR. No contest, the T3i was the best choice I could have made. My pictures are clear, beautiful, and utterly me. The T3i is so customizable and it's become very unique to me. Bottom line: T3i- Best. DLSR. Ever!
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Lightweight/Portable, easy to use
