Automatic flash broken purchased 6 weeks ago
on July 19, 2012

We purchased this camera to take with us on a once in a lifetime vacation to the Olympics. We have only had the camera 6 weeks and the automatic flash is already broken. We are told it will take a week to fix it plus transit time and we are leaving on vacation in a week. I am very disappointed as the reason for the purchase was to take it with us on vacation.

Awesome camera, but the Mirror gets in the way
on July 6, 2011

I got this camera partly for its 1080p capability, and it does it beautifully. I can produce a top quality movie with this camera alone. Awesome pictures too. It is flexible from full auto to manual control.
The only thing in the way for this being perfect is the mirror and the bulk it adds to everything from body size, lens size, and weight. We did not look into the prism viewfinder *once*. With a beautiful movable rear display, we could see better than through the prism. The mirror was locked out of the way all the time.
Please Canon, make a top of the line camera available without the mirror and pentaprism. That would be a game changer
Pros: good battery life, quiet, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: Heavy/Bulky

Better than the T2i

I don't always buy a DSLR cameras...but when I do, I buy Canon (T3i).
The features in the T3i are great and to me at least worth the price over the T2i. Plus, 3 is a higher number than 2. duh.
Pros: screen, eos accessories, everything

Worst camera purchase ever
on December 24, 2014

I have had the camera for two years, had to return it twice for defects under warranty, the first time one month after purchasing it because a glitch in the software made it impossible to eject the SD card. Now, I have to send the lens in, (third service request), because a screw has gotten loose and rattles inside, messing up the autofocus function, and at times blocking the manual adjustment altogether. In addition, from the beginning, there were multiple times when the focus just goes in and out, for ever, and makes it impossible to actually release the trigger. Needless to say, many great shots were missed because of this inability to simply shoot. I have had to disable automatic focus. But then again, it is easy to forget that I am no longer on automatic focus, and have to manually focus instead. Result: pictures end up being fuzzy.
In short, this camera is a huge waste of time and money.

I got this as a gift and not only did it freeze every time I took the picture, but the battery laster about ten minutes. So I brought it back to the store to get a new one, and THE NEW ONE DOES THE SAME THING.

EOS RebelT3i
on October 27, 2011

This camera is a huge disappointment. Using the same Canon lenses I used with my film EOS Elan 7E, the acuity in no way compares. My Canon Power ShotPro 1 takes equal & better photos.
Why spend $750, or so, for a T3i when a good point-&-shoot will do better at half the price, or less?
Cons: Poor image quality
