My first DSL and I like it

I had been using a point and shoot camera sense 2007 it did a good job for taking snapshots at a close range but my son started competing in bodybuilding all so I have been becoming more enthusiastic about taking better pictures and my point and shoot had a lot of wash out when taking pictures of my son on stage so I did a lot of research on cameras trying to find what I would need to take good quality pictures and would last me into the future. I am very glad I chose this one it can be used just like a point and shoot which was what I'm use to using I was able to pick this camera up and take very good shots right away I found the menus on the camera to be easy to follow and understand I started with Basic shooting and I have been able to learn advance shooting I believe this is because I can understand the menu's on the camera images I shoot of my son on stage are very good very clear. No washout. It's my understanding many cameras can have a lot of noise when shooting at 1600 ISO or higher photos I take are pretty clean. so if you are using a cheaper camera and would like to have better quality camera I highly recommend this camera I believe it to be good if you are a beginner like me it is very simple to shoot you can work it just
like a point and shoot if you are more advance in photography I believe it has the advanced features to meet your needs . I believe it's good for both beginners and advanced shooters
Pros: good battery life, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great to get started with DSLR

The last time I purchased an SLR camera was in the late '80s when film was king. For the past 20-odd years, I've been shooting with point and shoot, or cell phone (yuck) cameras. Recently, I decided to return to photography as a hobby. I needed to choose a DSLR in an affordable price range, and wanted something that could also record 1080p video. After much research and demoing products from all of the major manufacturers, I settled on the T3i 18-55 kit.
After only a few weeks, I can't find many faults. If you're moving up from a point and shoot, you will be quite surprised with the image quality of the T3i. The 18-55mm kit lens is worthy of the Canon name, and while the autofocus is a bit noisy, it works in all but the most difficult situations. Note that the front lens element does rotate during both manual and auto focusing, meaning that both polarizing filters as well as petal style lens hoods will rotate along with it. Certainly not a deal breaker for me.
I very much like the exposure priority and shutter priority modes. If you're just getting started in photography, these two modes will let you experiment with different settings one at a time, while letting the camera fill in the blanks. Very helpful.
The built in flash works well, but if you're into macro photography, you'll be looking to upgrade quickly, as the lens will cast shadows when your subject is close.
Battery life is good, I've yet to run out of juice while shooting. Extra batteries are available if you need to be away from the charger for extended periods.
There are many lenses available to fit the T3i, but do your homework before purchasing. Canon EF lenses will fit and work, but multiply the EF focal length by 1.6 to get the actual focal length when attached to the T3i due to the smaller sized sensor compared to a 35mm film or full sized sensor DSLR. EF-S lenses will work without the 1.6 multiplier as they are designed for the smaller sensor cameras.
All in all, I'm very pleased with my purchase. I don't doubt that I'll outgrow the T3i, but it's a great camera at a good price, and it does take very nice pictures as long as the person pressing on the shutter release knows what a good picture is supposed to look like.
Pros: affordable, easy to learn and use, fairly intuitive menu system, many available accessories, relatively light weight
Cons: most will outgrow the kit lens quickly, doesn't offer autofocus microadjustment, video recording requires quality fast sd card

Great camera
on September 17, 2012

I take pictures all the time for work. They involve damage to state property and after the damage is repaired. Because of the swivel LCD screen I am able to take pictues with the camera above my head and hanging off the side of a structure. Its automatic mode makes it nice to take pictures when I can't hold onto the camera in a more conventional way. I have to enlarge alot of pictures to see detail. The enlargements are always clear. I am not a pro photographer but, this camera allows me to take great pictures and it was easy to learn how to use.
Pros: Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Simple controls/menu, easy to use, great enlargements

Switched from A rebel XTI to the T3i. Didnt think picture quality or even camera quality got much better but the T3i is like a Ferrari compared to the XTi. I love the ease of use and the multitude of settings available. The picture quality is so clear and crisp and bright, Truly amazing once again canon.
Pros: Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu

I have had my EOS Rebel T3i for about a year now, and love this camera more and more. It has all the features that this hobby photographer needs, without all the features that only a pro would use. The battery life is better than advertised. The photo quality is top notch. I have recommended this camera to everyone who has asked for advice.
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Solid Operation, easy to use

Super DSLR

Have this camera for two weeks now, bought it on its reviews, this is an upgrade from my A1, which still after 30 years still works. The Ti3 has all the items I was looking for in my first DSLR, 18MPs, battery life, light weight, speed, HD video, and flip out screen. Great work for some enlargements that were done. This camera packs a lot in a small frame, and all the buttons are within easy reach. Ready for my next vacation.
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu
