What's great about it: It's very quick and easy to set up and supports HDMI connectivity.
What's not so great: No complaints
This is an absolutely amazing product. I use it primarily to watch movies rented from iTunes and stream videos from my iPad. The Apple TV is capable of much more such as displaying your pictures, playing your music and watching regular cable TV shows just to name a few.
The picture quality is amazing. I paid approximately $100 for it and would say that it is worth every penny and would recommend the Apple TV to anyone.

What's great about it: i watch my movies in any room
This was a gift and this is nice to have in my room where I rarely watch movies. I use this when I am holed up in my spare room and don't want to be bothered..lol

Worth every penny. The only box that can stream movies from the iTunes store - which is where i purchase HD movies that are not on Blu-Ray yet.

What's great about it: all of my iTunes and iDevice content all around the house
What's not so great: Apple needs to expand the content provider list for streaming

Bought primarily to mirror actions from iPad onto TV screen. Found it easy to install, and it responds very well with wireless network and current iTunes library! I really love it.

What's not so great: the controller is small and I'm afraid I will lose it!!!
My daughter told me about this product at Christmas since I have Netflix but do not have a computer set up near my TV and didn't want to go to all that trouble. But did have wireless.
So, I decided to give it a try a couple months later. I love it! I can stream my netflix, play the music on my computer and stream radio get movies and more I'm sure I havent figured out yet I'm sure. And as a very close to 60 something, did not find it that hard to set up with my limited tech knowledge.

What's not so great: Takes too long to enter text with tiny remote
Many people do not know that these can be jailbroken. Once they are you can enter a whole new world of free media. This would be much easier to navigate with a qwerty type remote or if you could use your phone as a remote or voice command.

What's great about it: Price, set up, integrates with Apple products seemlessly
What's not so great: not the HD version, only can get 720 from it
I bought this about 2 months before Apple realeased the HD version, but this is a great invention. Just plug in power cord and HDMI cable and you are ready to go. You can download a remote on your iphone to control the Apple TV and play anything on your iTunes. If you have an Ipad 2 or Iphone 4s you can mirror anything on your screen. I will definetly be buying the new HD apple tv and moving my 2nd gen to another tv in the house. The $99 price tag is way better than paying for netflix.

The apple tv is an amazing device that does all it is is advertised as doing. So easy to set up and use. My only complaint is that too much of the content costs money. Change that and 5 stars easy!

What's great about it: Features, price, ease of use, Apple device integration, stable, great video quality
What's not so great: Some may find choice of channels limiting
If you own an iPad or Mac, this device allows you to wirelessly stream photos, video and music to your TV and the integration is seamless - your Apple devices recognize ATV as an output as soon as it's joined your network. I use the free Apple Remote iPad app to control ATV which is great when you need to type for searching. I almost didn't buy this because there have been complaints of instability with Netfilx, but my service has been flawless and the video quality is great. The menu interface is sharp and easy to use, and the device was easy to set up. It's literally the size of a hockey puck and for $90 a relatively inexpensive way to add online music and video channels along with Apple device integration to your home entertainment network. The only request I would have is to see additional channels added but between Netflix and ATV (which is PPV) on top of my FiOS subscription, I think there's always something to watch. :) Definitely recommend this but would advise you try and find out if there are Netflix/ATV issues in your area.

What's great about it: All apple devices mirror to tv.
I have it for over 2 months now and I love it. Very easy to use and easy to install. I use Netflix and use it for my apple devices. My 2 year old knows how to put his videos from his iPod to the apple tv. The only downfall is that you can't surf the web or google. But again I have my tablet laptop and cellphone for that.

What's great about it: Easy setup, reliable, good functionality, great features
Apple TV is great. I used to stream media through my WiFi bluray player and decided to try this product because we have 2 iPhones, an iPad, and now an iMac. The AirPlay capability is amazing. Any type of media you have - movies, music, photos - will stream wirelessly over AirPlay. On the phone or iPad, when they are connected to the same network as the apple tv, a new button shows up whenever you play a movie or song. The same goes for looking at photos. It also works with videos from websites. On your iMac, the same airplay button shows up at the bottom right corner of iTunes. Push the button and whatever you are watching shows up on your HDMI connected TV. With the iPad 2 and the iPhone 4S you also have video mirroring wirelessly to your tv through the apple tv. Anything on your screen will show up on your tv. The device itself has built-in apps. We mainly use Netflix which works great. Loads faster than the bluray player did. If you turn on home sharing in iTunes, then your iPhoto library is also available to view on your tv. Also, any movies or tv shows purchased through iTunes will automatically show up in the purchased section of the apple tv interface. The remote is the standard 3 button apple remote, simple to use and virtually idiot-proof. If one button doesn't do what you want, try one of the other two. Easy. The same remote can be paired with your iMac as well. Or you can download the free remote app for your iPhone or iPad.
Setup is simple. Plug it in, hook up your HDMI cable, and run through the WiFi setup. 5 minutes and it is up and running. I can go on and on. I am very happy with all of my apple products so far and this one definitely does not disappoint. The next version will be even better with 1080p and faster processor. May get one for another tv.

Overall I have been very happy with our Apple TV. It's a great product and has met our needs. There are two issues that I have with this item. This first is that it doesn't always play well with Netflix. Once we moved from a wireless connection to a wired connection, this issue seamed to be resolved. The other issue is the lack of content or access of content. Hulu does not work with this product along with basic "web" browser. I knew this when purchasing the product.
With the two limitations in mind, this product has server our needs perfectly. We use it with our iTunes and Netflix. We love the built in "free" radio channels.
Overall it's a great product that I would recommend to anyone. Worth every penny.

What's great about it: Small and cheap enough.
What's not so great: It loses connection to my tv.
When it's working it's fine. However, it seems to disconnect from my tv when not in use. When I switch to HDMI 3 on my tv, most of the time I have no picture. I need to reset the device to get a picture. I don't use it too often so this is required each time I want to use it. It could be my Samsung tv but I really don't know. Logic tells me it's the apple tv having the problem.
Other than that small issue it works great! I love what it does. I grew up with PC's so I'm used to things not working all the time. Slightly frustrating but a good product when it's working.

My HDTV comes with 1080p/120hz, so why would I want to see the Apple TV content in 720p/60hz??? Returning today after only one week of usage. Upgrade to 1080p, and I'll buy that version.

What's great about it: SImply, the ability to do anything
What's not so great: Airplay requires wifi, and the need of fast internet to enjoy the product
This product is really good and awesome! And all these reviews are true, but in order to enjoy this product you need reliable high speed internet. I live in the rural area and use a mobile broadband USB on a router to give wifi and hey, its the best I can do as DSL and Cable companies have skipped 4 streets around me and never bothered to try installing internet here. But back to the apple tv, it takes a long time to load as I have slow internet, and the only problem I had is that I get a TON of errors when I try doing the Home Sharing feature, which I thought it be cool to watch the movies on my laptop, but what's the use if I get error for everything I try connecting. Then the mirroring, and awesome feature, but the only way for it to work is through wifi, and all the apps work fine, but when I try to use the internet it takes forever to load, especially youtube. I have sprint for my iPhone 4s, but I don't get to use that fast internet because it uses my wifi instead.........
This is a great product overall and I highly recommend it to everyone, but it works a TON TON TON better when you have fast internet.

What's great about it: Apple TV enabled us to finally enjoy our awesome stereo system to the fullest!!!
What's not so great: Took me to long to discover what I was missing by not having Apple TVl...
This inexpensive device brought our stereo system to life... We had put together an impressive 7:1 system all Pioneer Elite with 8 Cerwin Vega professional speakers and only used it for TV and movies because we were to lazy to get up and down and keep shuffling the CD's. Apple TV changed all that, now we stream all our MP3's from our iPads, iPhones, iTouchs, Computers wirelessly to Apple TV which is connected with an HDMI cable right into the receiver. Awesome music all the time now and great for You Tube, Spotify, Pandora, Last.FM, Rhapsody and all the other music services. Forget all the other great features like renting new release movies and TV series. This is a must have device if you have a nice entertainment system you want to wake up... ☮
