Just purchased the Roomba 880, Scooba 450, & Braava 380t. Here is my take: The Braava 380t is another great little machine! Make sure to order spare microfiber cloths. I just use mine with water and am amazed at the job it does. It also holds a charge for a long period of time. It does a nice job on my travertine floors and is fantastic on my wood floors. Don't get me wrong - this is not an intensive cleaning job, but if you use it frequently, you won't need to spend time manually cleaning floors very often. I just ordered two more Braava 380ts. Make sure to use the Roomba to get as much dirt and hair up before using the Braava - after all, one microfiber cloth can only hold so much dirt. The Scooba 450. It doesn't do well with dog hair and is a real mess to clean. The dog hair also seems to prevent it from suctioning the dirty water back up. Don't even bother to purchase this if you have pet hair. Forget using the large room feature on it. Since it does things in stages, by the time it gets to the suctioning of dirty water, the floor is already dry. If you set it to small room and do small areas at a time using the 20 minute scrub, it does seem to do a passable job. But who has time to do small areas at a time (and only holds a charge to do two small areas)? Very disappointed with the Scooba 450. Maybe a better idea for iRobot would be to have two machines - one dedicated to floor scrubbing a small area using actual scrubbing brushes instead of just the usual vacuum brush) and the other to just suction the dirty water after scrubbing? That should enable both machines to have an hour run time each - enough to do three small sections before having to recharge. The Roomba 880 is fantastic - a huge improvement over past models I used! It keeps a charge so much longer and is easier to empty. I did find the filter seems to get dirty very fast with all of the pet hair. Since they send a spare filter, I just clean the dirty one the best I can and even spray it with hot water and let dry. I just ordered another Roomba 880 so that I can have two going at the same time (big house). Love the return to dock feature. Depending on your situation, you will probably need to order additional Virtual Walls.
Pros: Cleans Under Furniture, Covers Entire Room, Hassle Free Operation, Long Run Time, Pet Friendly, Quiet
Cons: Does Not Clean Stairs

Love It!!!!!

I originally bought the iRobot 320 and loved the performance, the only drawback was the 10 hour charge time. The iRobot 380 charges in 2 hours. I have a large house and long haired cats that are constantly shedding and refuse to be brushed. I need to have my floors cleaned at least every two days or it looks like I haven't cleaned in a month. Since all my floors are hardwood or ceramic the iRobot mop works best for my house.
Pros: Cleans Effectively, Cleans Under Furniture, Covers Entire Room, Deep Cleaning Ability, Hassle Free Operation, Long Run Time, Pet Friendly, Quiet
Cons: Can Get Stuck, Does Not Clean Stairs

Designed for keeping a clean floor clean

My first experience with the iRobot home cleaning products was the Roomba 650 vacuum. I was so pleased with that product that I decided to try the Braava 380t floor mopping robot. I am generally pleased with the Braava 380t, which I have named "Susie," but potential purchasers need to be aware that this robot is designed to keep a clean floor clean, and not so much to scrub a dirty floor. I think that one of iRobot's floor scrubbing robots would be a better choice for cleaning really dirty floors. With this robot, you should expect to still clean up most significant spills when they happen. "Susie" is fairly effective in the sweeping mode. She covers a fairly large area, and has a long battery life. In addition, the Turbo Charge Cradle that comes with it (I think it only comes with the 380t model) is fantastic for recharging Susie quickly. I also like the fact that Susie uses Swiffer Sweeper disposable dry cloths as well as the washable/resusable white microfiber sweeping cloth that comes with the purchase. Susie is also whisper quiet, which is a big plus. When sweeping, Susie used to occasionally get stuck in certain areas of my kitchen (which is the main room she works in), but with the judicious placement of kitchen rugs, we've been able to reduce the occurences of these mishaps. I feel comfortable now that in sweeping mode, I can get Susie going and then leave the house while she finishes. Susie also does an effective job mopping, but she requires more supervision. I suppose it has something to do with the difference in cleaning patterns between sweeping and mopping, but Susie gets stuck ALOT more with mopping than with sweeping. So far, I have always had to remain somewhere nearby when Susie is mopping so that I can hear her distress signal and rescue her when necessary. I've had Susie for a couple of months now, and I am still experimenting with where to start her off so that she is less likely to get stuck. I've been playing around a bit with the location of the NorthStar Navigation Cube to see if that impacts Susie's likelihood of getting stuck. I think I may have found a location for the Cube that might be optimal (stay tuned). In mopping mode, I think that I prefer that Susie dispense more liquid than the average homeowner might. Therefore, I use the included Pro-Clean Resevoir Pad along with a Swiffer Sweeper wet mopping cloth (not the WetJet pad). I fill the Resevoir Pad with a PineSol solution diluted to the concentration recommended by the manufacturer (which is 1/4 cup PineSol to 1 gallon of water). I then cover the Resevoir Pad with the Swiffer Sweeper wet mopping cloth, attach the covered Resevoir Pad to Susie, and send her on her way. Of course, this makes my floor very wet at the beginning, but by the time Susie finishes the approximately 300 sq ft that I have her cleaning (which usually takes her about an hour), the floor is largely dry. I am always amazed at how dirty the cleaning cloth is at the end of the cycle, despite the fact that the floor does not typically look that dirty at the start of the cycle. I have also taken advantage of the included washable/reusable blue textured microfiber cloth for mopping when I need to mop more than once a day (helps me save on Swiffer cloths). I do wish that Susie had a way to schedule her (like the Roomba 650 vacuum does), so that I could run her unattended during the night. I also wish that Susie had some form of dirt detection sensors so that she could know to spend more time in more soiled areas. Other than that, I am pleased with Susie, and my kitchen floor has not been filthy in two months.
Pros: Cleans Effectively, Cleans Under Furniture, Long Run Time, Quiet
Cons: Can Get Stuck, Must Babysit Damp Mopping, No Sensors For Extra Dirt, Unable To Schedule It

IF YOU HAVE BACK TROUBLE, THIS IS THE APPLIANCE FOR YOU. THIS IS A BACK SAVER, TIME SAVER AND MONEY SAVER. MY KITCHEN FLOOR IS 25 YEARS OLD AND READY TO BE REPLACED AND MY BRAAVA CLEANS WELL ENOUGH IN THE KITCHEN THAT I DON'T HAVE TO HIRE HELP DUE TO A BAD BACK. I'M A MESSY COOK AND IT'S EVEN MORE EFFECTIVE IF I USE IT ON A DAILY BASIS AFTER DINNER AT NIGHT. MY DAUGHTER PURCHASED THIS FOR ME THIS CHRISTMAS, I DON'T KNOW HOW I MANAGED WITHOUT IT...IT DOES AND EQUALLY GOOD JOB ON HARDWOOD FLOORS USING BONA OR JUST PLAIN HOT WATER.
Pros: Cleans Effectively, Cleans Under Furniture, Easy To Use, Hassle Free Operation, VERY QUIET WORKER

Not as good as a Roomba but definitely better than manual

The good is fairly straightforward, the bad isn't so much. Below is the bad. *Definitely do not leave this unattended! If it picks up something hard like a pebble, grain of cat litter, an earring, or anything that has a sharpish edge, it will drag it across your floors. If you have a Roomba, vacuum first then use the Braava. *It is slow. I'm not going to say paint dries faster sort of slow but wow, it is really slow. *It loses track of where it has been if it hits something at an angle. Since it is square, it sort of bounces off a bit which causes its alignment to change. When it turns around, it goes in a different direction than what it was going. *The pad it comes with dries out quickly. iRobot came up with this weird reservoir system that you wrap a wet microcloth around. At first, it definitely is making a difference. After a few minutes of cleaning, you can tell it isn't as wet as it was. The reservoir only gets the center wet, not the edges. So after awhile, you are only cleaning the center of the cloth. To fix this: pause the Braava, remove the reservoir, clean the cloth, leave the cloth wet, reinstall around reservoir, reinstall reservoir, and restart job. *Cannot schedule cleaning nor can you use the app. This was a pretty significant thing for me which is why I gave it 3 stars. This is a semiautomated system meaning it takes a user to set it up to be capable of operating and takes operator intervention to keep it running optimally. Also takes more maintenance than a Roomba unless you use disposable pads (not sure I would recommend using disposable pads though). *The navigation cube isn't particularly awesome. Granted it isn't difficult to use, there seems to be a science behind the placement that the manual does a horrible job at explaining. You need to play with the system which takes time and a learning curve. Bottom line, this has significant room for improvement but is definitely a step up from doing it manually.
Cons: Cannot schedule like a Roomba, Has a learning curve to setup optimally, Looses track of where its been, Not supported by iRobot app, Pad dries quickly, Slow

Can't Live without irobot!

I have a Roomba and a Braava and it has changed my life!! Both are well worth the cost for the convenience and peace of mind it gives me. With a busy household these little darlings make life more enjoyable. Who ever thought cleaning could be so much fun! I use the Brava on hard wood, and tile, in small rooms and large, and in high traffic areas. For daily maintenance it works like a charm. The only con I can find to this little beauty is it does not have virtual walls like the Roomba. With an open floor plan, I have to block off areas to keep it contained. Also don't like that it can fall down stairs, so I have to babysit it when I am using it in certain areas around the house. Overall, this one's a no-brainer if you are looking to spend less time cleaning. Don't be intimidated, just make the investment. Watch the dvd's so you get the most out of your irobot and join the revolution!
