My First Windows Phone

I really enjoy the Ativ S Neo it has some pleasant features that I wasn't expecting like it reads my texts to me. I still haven't discovered all it can do but so far so good. The only disappointment I can think of is it's too small. I want a combination device, phone + tablet in 10 inch size please.
Pros: Bright display, Durable, Lightweight
Cons: too small
I would recommend this to a friend!

This is a great WP8 - except

I had an S III since it came out but wanted to move from Android to a Windows phone again. I loved the S3 except it was Android and I felt that this would be a great option. My wife still has an S3 and we wanted replace it also for a WP.
The Ativ S Neo is a great phone. So far it has been very stable, great speed, good performance, and nice memory along with Micro SD options.
Unfortunately I have several issues: First there is what I consider a volume issue. Music volume can been adjusted and the sound/speaker is great. Generally you have to turn the volume down to listen to music. Unfortunately this impacts phone volume. With the volume turned down to comfortably listen to music you can not hear the phone alerts of phone conversations unless you turn the volume back up after you listen to music.
The second issue and maybe the greatest is that Group Texting is not an option in the Messaging Setting. Yes you can send text to multiple individuals but if someone sends you a group text and you reply only the sender gets it. When you receive a groups text from someone you can not even see who is included. You miss out on the whole Group event. Group Texting has been available in Windows Phones since WP7, it is there for WP8 but not in this phone. Why was it not activated and available for this WP8. A deal breaker to loose this technology. I feel cheated and disappointed in Samsung for giving me a less that current technological device. Available but not activated sad.
I think this is a good phone and could be the greatest but with these limitations I think I'll have to find another solution for my wife.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Durable, Realistic color, Lightweight
Cons: lacks basic current features

Good Phone; BT sux

this is a good little phone. Good design, size, styling all that jazz good. I get about 1.5 maybe 2 days on a single charge depending of course on usage. As far as the OS, I had a head start with 2 pc with Win 8 & 8.1 which was in truth one of the factors in getting this phone. The only CON I have on this phone is ..... Bluetooth. I call it wonder Bluetooth, I wonder if its going to work or not. Not sure if it is a Windows issue or Samsung issue. Windows has a upgrade coming in April I'm hoping that takes care of it. other than that, I like and would recommend it.
Pros: Inexpensive, Realistic color, Lightweight, good battery life
Cons: wonder bluetooth
I would recommend this to a friend!

Had high hopes for this phone but was disappointed

Bought this phone to integrate into my home network better. While this phone did manage to live up to that function it failed to deliver basic phone services and really failed to deliver smartphone functions compared to previous ones we've owned. We weren't aware how bad things were going to be till about 2 months after owning them and by that time we were not allowed to trade them in for something functional.
Pros:
1. Large Screen
2. File system - built in drive and SD drive support adequate for the OS and apps. Integration with Windows desktop great.
3. Fast reboot times and overall performance
4. Durable
Cons:
1. Cannot block text messages and no app available to achieve this.
2. Voicemail programs unreliable - Notification and just logging into the system constantly fails
3. Cannot purchase batteries at the Sprint Store where the phones were purchased.
4. Phone stopped powering on completely after 9 months of owning it.
5. App selection is still poor since it's a Windows phone. Really disappointed major app makers do not support this phone.
6. Basic plugins to simply stream music from the web will not load properly.
7. No on screen camera button to take pictures available.
8. When using GPS the phone overheats after an hour and simply closes the app and won't allow it to start again until the phone cools.
9. Decent GPS support requires a yearly fee.
10. All services, such as email, that aren't Microsoft related are required to go through a Microsoft account that then applies an artificial delay (usually 15 min) in the refresh times rather than the instant notification you get using Microsoft services.
11. Cannot set notification sounds. All notification sounds have to be set to one of the pre-installed defaults. Only the ringtone allows you to load custom sounds.
12. No upgrade to Windows 8.1 available for this phone model.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Durable
Cons: Did not meet expectations
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Where is 8.1
on September 22, 2014

This is my first Windows phone & I've had it since April. It took me about one week to get used using it. One thing I love about this phone is it is not loaded with bloatware and you can remove any of the pre-installed apps. I removed several of the useless Sprint Apps the first day I got it. I would gladly give 5 stars once it officially receives the 8.1 upgrade and when they fix the voice mail notification. Currently you only get notified for missed calls & have to check each one to see if they left a voice mail. This is a known issue on this phone.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, very easy learning curve
Cons: still waiting for 8.1 upgrade, calender is way too small & unreadable, voicemail notification not functioning
I would recommend this to a friend!

Performance has never been an issue with this phone. Even with hundreds of apps and latest Windows phone OS updates this hardware is not undersized.
Pros: Inexpensive, Bright display, updated to windows phone 8.1-still as fast as day1
Cons: no windows 10 mobile support - yet 8/2015
