worthless piece of dung

This printer worked just fine til I ordered new cartridges online from Epson. I installed the new cartridges the mid December 2014. Now on January 5, 2015 the printer says I need to replace them. I can hear ink inside but it prints for dung. Printer will not let me do any head cleaning or nozzle cleaning. I would not buy ink cartridges from Epson or buy this printer. You'll just have frustration.

Worked well out of the box and easy to set up the wireless connections to all of the other computers.
Disappointed; when I went to change the ink cartridge, as my printed page became unreadable. The Epson ink cartridges did not fix the problem of ink delivery. Now the printer shows that the XL-black is not recognized. The online manual did not cover and troubleshooting or problems. I did not get help online or see a troubleshooting area on the Epson Products site.

Uses too much ink

I would be better off buying a new printer every other month because I am putting out that much money in cartridges. There has got to be a way to use less ink!

Uses Too Much Ink

Bought this product figuring a new printer would save me on the cost of ink. I ran out of ink in a very short period of time. (I don't print that much and I don't photo print.)
When you get low on ink, this printer does not give you much warning and then you are unable to print at all.
According to the Epson interface, if you need to, you can continue to print with a temporary black ink setting. No matter what I did I could not get this feature to work.
I replaced the black ink cartridge as called for and the bar representing this particular cartridge went up to 100%. I subsequently printed 2 pages and this bar looks to me now to be at 85%. Really?
In addition, the same night I replaced the black ink, the printer stopped working again. Now I'm told I'm out of the other colors. This means I ran out of all the colors at the same time. Really? Usually you replace black ink more often. Because I don't print much it must be that all the ink is evaporating.
Very disappointed!

It needs constant attention

It never works the same for more than a week, I always have to re-set or re-install something. One day it won't scan from the plate, the next day it's having trouble printing envelopes. Another day it decides it can't print from the cassette, only from the back feeder.
Today's surprise is it scans from the computer but not from the printer itself - with a wifi error. And the wifi checks out fine through the printer, the computer, the network and the Epson page, and obviously works since I can scan and print from the computer. ???
Always a mystery, always a pain in the butt.
The only thing I like about this thing is that it's a good size for an all in one, but I'd give that up in a second for something that actually worked consistently.

After spending several hours making sure Mac laptop, iPhone, iPad were all hooked up wirelessly we began printing pictures. The first two came out fine but the next 20 came out with a border and enlarged the photos on its own. After considerable time spent trying to find online resolution I think it might be going back. Disappointed because this is our first Epson and we really wanted this to fit our need.

Fatal Flaw with ink cartridges

Stick with the Artisan 837.
There are a number of advantages that the xp-810 has over the Artisan 837--namely the rear feed tray for different media types and the smaller size. However, when you try to replace the ink cartridges--even with Epson originals, you could easily encounter big problems.
We bought this printer to replace the Artisan 837 primarily because of paper feeding issues. However, within 2 months we started having problems with the inkjet cartridges. Over the next 3 or 4 weeks, we have now had to send back 3 replacement printers---ALL WITH THE SAME ISSUES! The ink will not print properly and often the printer won't even recognize the cartridges. Head cleaning does NOT resolve these issues.
If this problem were fixed, then I would hail this product as one of the best on the market. But not in its current state.

When this printer works it works great. But when the black cartridge runs out of ink and you put in a new Epson black cartridge it will no longer print black. Yes, I did a nozzle check and emptied out two color cartridges cleaning the print heads. Still won't print black. Returned the printer to store for exchange. Second printer worked great until black ink ran out. Now IT won't print black. Epson is sending a replacement printer, saying it's a hardware failure. I'm not optimistic at this point. Good customer service but not a quality product.
