Great Printer, Great Deal

I have had time to put the XP810 through all of its functions (except Faxing). The printer has performed flawlessly in color and black/white. The two main things I was looking for in a new printer were (1) duplex printing and (2) printing on CD/DVD media, both of which it does well!
If you purchase an XP810 print out a photo right away and prepare to be impressed!

I cannot find how to adjust my ink usage on my printer. If the color cartridge runs out,why am I not able to use the full black ink cartridge without replacing the empty color cartridge?? THERE ARE NO INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO CHANGE WHICH INK ONE WISHES TO USE

I bought this printer to replace a dead Artisan 50 that had served me well for 5+ years. Epson doesn't appear to be making a replacement model for the Artisan 50 (~$100, rear feed, able to handle a variety of paper stocks and sizes, print CD labels, good photo quality), which is puzzling. The XP-810 seemed to be the closest to it, but comes up short in ways that are important to me. The biggest problem is the rear paper feed, which handles only one sheet at a time and requires that you wait for the printer to completely finish the previous sheet before you can load a second sheet. The second problem is that it won't easily handle odd paper sizes, like envelopes other than standard legal size or mailing labels. This reduces its utility for me. On the plus side, the printer does have reasonable photo reproduction, and CD labels are no more complicated to print than the Artisan 50, which isn't saying a lot. Overall, I can live with it, but I won't consider an Epson again once this dies.

Good for a while, then disaster
on December 13, 2014

My 810 was easy to install and worked well for several months. Then disaster struck. One day I needed to print a .jpg file. The only problem is that it only printed in one color: blue. I tried every troubleshooting trick I have learned. No way to correct the issue. So, I traded the 810 for an 820. Now I get color prints again. Once more, I'm a happy Epson printer owner. Time will tell if the 820 can continue to work.

XP-810 Small in one

It was a pretty good printer, however it lasted just over a year before the black print heads went out. I tried using the clean head option but only gave me a non-specific error message stating it could not be completed.

Limited instructions as how to connect to wifi and send scanned docs to your email. The ink cartridges do not last long at all. You do not get the amount of printings they advertise, and the cartridges are very expensive.

installation

Most important, your instructions are very vague concerning making sure the color cartridge installation is inserted correctly also the paper holder instructions are very vague involving the small tray for smaller picture paper, other than that it worked OK after the above glitches. I have not used it very much at the time, I just installed it.
Thank You

XP-810

My Artisan 837 died, had coverage on it so I ended up with a new XP-810, because Epson doesn't make the Artisan 837 any more. I didn't think I'd like it, because I wanted the CD Printer, but this printer does have the CD printer in it. It's different from the Artisan but is really a cute and smaller machine. I think it's a great little machine. It has fax, copy, scan, print on CD, and print. It does have less ink cartridges than the Artisan. I would recommend it to a friend.
