Uses too much ink

I have had this printer less than 4 months. It works nicely and was easy to set up. The only disappointment is that it uses a lot of ink. I don't print a large amount but I have had to replace all the ink cartridges a couple times already.

Worst printer I've ever owned

I studied all the reviews before buying this printer. I had high expectations. It is the most finicky printer I've ever owned. It forgets its WiFi connection periodically. I put new ink in it and it never again prints proper colors. In fact, the ink seems to evaporate.....I'm nearly out of the pricey stuff and I have yet to print a single color image that looks decent. I will never buy an Epson product again.

Epson XP-810

I looked for a good printer that also printed from the rear. What a disappointment!!!! The booklet and the people who sell the 810 do not tell you that it will not print an 8 1/2 by 11 from the rear....only small sizes. If you put a glossy paper in the front part of the printer and you have regular paper underneath...it will print the regular paper first. If you print borderless...it will smear terribly.

A Sadly Undependable Ink Hog
on March 19, 2015

We have had this printer for about 5 months now, and it never fails to give us problems whenever we need to use it. There is something wrong with the ink monitor, so that after a few days of NO use, it will not print without replacing one or more of the EXPENSIVE ink cartridges. Further, they use a LOT of ink; so even a modest number of color prints results in two or more cartridges being used up.
However, after sitting a while (we travel so we use the printer only a couple of times a month), we find that even the new cartridges we put in a couple of weeks ago are "empty". Amazing. Epson will not replace the unit.

VERY DISAPPOINTED IN EPSON

I purchased this printer primarily for church use. I do the bulletins AND we make CD's of the sermons and Epson, so far as I know, is the only brand that printes directly on CDs. I started with the Artisan. I was never happy with the photos, but it printed extremely well on CD's. replaced it with the XP 800. That lasted about a month. It printed great with the original cartridges it came with. But when I had to change them, the pictures were horrible! They were greenish, yellowish....whatever color they wanted to be, not to mention disfigured and blurred. BUT! The CD's still printed well! Took it back and got the XP 810. Again, printed well until I had to replace a cartrdige. It would print photos, but it wouldn't print black text. I replaced both the black and photo black cartridges and got the same result!! Now, it keeps saying that it "CANNOT RECOGNIZE THE FOLLOWING CARTRIDGE..." This is soo frustrating AND expensive. I have all these full or nearly full ink cartridges and it still doesn't work!!!

Would NOT buy again

Although this printer has some nice features...like ability to print from iPad or iPhone, the print quality is poor with regard to anything other than black & white. Graphics, even in the simplest form, do not print without lines & the photos are terrible! The ink has to be replaced often even though the volume is only a small fraction of what I was printing with my previous printer. It is also extremely frustrating when one of the four ink cartridges seem low that all printing stops!!! You have absolutely no way to force printing!!!! I really dislike being forced to change a cartridge to proceed, especially for docs that may not require that ink (color) nor require great quality. I miss my old printer...where I could shake the cartridge a bit & still keep printing. I could print until blank sheets came out if I wanted! I so wish that this "fancy" printer would have this simple ability!!! If you're planning to buy this one, set aside a portion of your savings for print cartridges to make it keep working!!!

Beautiful photographs, but ink hog

I use this printer mainly for everyday printing. Even in Grayscale Economy mode, this printer is an ink hog. If all you are going to do is print photographs from it, they are excellent and you'll be happy. It has all-in-one printer features, but not economical with ink consumption.

Always out of ink!

Print quality is excellent but not worth the hassle. I don't print much but this printer holds about 2 drops of ink in each cartridge. One is always out of ink thereby terminating my printing task and interrupting my day requiring me to make a trip to the store for more ink. Keep plenty of ink on hand. Also, the high capacity cartridges are very hard to find. This is the most annoying printer I have ever owned.
