Disappointed

I purchased this printer because of a recommendation of a big box store employee. I wanted a wireless printer and this model was the most expensive and had all the options that I wanted. It was a problem from the time I set it up. Not only did it seem very fragile with its plastic construction, it jammed almost every other time I tried to print. It also indicated a paper jam even when there was no paper in it to jam. Very frustrating!

Excellent printer, some quirks

I got this printer two weeks ago after reading several reviews online.
THE GOOD: Seems like the BEST light duty printer, and its size and looks are also best in class. It was easy to set up for wireless home network printing. This required one call for support, and that call went well.
THE QUIRKS: It has a rear single-sheet paper feed. Oddly, the printer first ejects the blanks page and then asks for it again EVERY time you want to print from this paper source (for me, this is envelope feeding). Epson support confirmed this design flaw. I can live with it.
To me, it is also odd that motors raises the display and ejects a catch try with each print job. I can't imagine these electronic motors lasting as long as the rest of the printer. (Also, the user then has to return these parts manually.)
Ink costs are high, but that doesn't bother me for light duty printing from such a nice machine. On balance, this is an excellent choice.

Don't Waste Your Money

This printer is problematic. It troublesome and slow. I never could get it aligned so that it would print graphics on regular paper. It sucked up 1/2 of the printer link just trying to align the cartridges. I bought the extended cartridges and the black only last two days with me using the draft mode on my documents which was mostly text. While waiting to get new printer cartridges for the black the something happened to the color cartridges and the printer would not recognize them and I had to replace them despite the fact that they registered 1/2 full. The printer cartridges are hard to find.

Printer never works

The printer heads are problematic on this printer - the ink gums up resulting in poor print quality and wasted ink in cleaning/clearing the heads. Further over 50% of the time the replacement heads are not recognized by the printer necessitating a call to customer service and shipment of more replacement heads. I would never recommend anyone buy this printer

I've had nothing but trouble with my 810. I sent my first one back for replacement because the bottom tray wouldn't pull out to load. The replacement I spent2 hours on the phone with Epson and finally got a supervisor who solved my problem with a kicker. I can only load two 4 x 6 photo paper in tray l. Any more than two it won't print and tells me I'm out of paper. I've used Epson printers since My first Windows 3 computer and they have always been good. My photo 580 was the very best and lasted me 5 years

Way Too Much Ink

I'm so disappointed in the amount of ink used in this printer. The quality of print is fine but because Epson printers mix ink (even with just black/grayscale) you are required to replace the black photo ink very frequently. It won't print if ANY need to be replaced. Stores don't sell it separately so I have all this extra colored ink that I paid a huge amount for and will never use. I'm going back to my old brand printer because it will be cheaper to buy a new one. No more Epsons for me.

Buyer beware!

I bought the XP-810 in January 2014 and since then Epson has had to send me 3 replacements printers. So essentially, I've had four of these XP-810s. None of them worked properly. I had problems with yellow/green banding, printer not recognizing ink after changing the Epson print cartridges, cartridge ink level almost empty after printing only 3 pages etc, etc. And not to mention the amount of $$$ that I've spent on Epson ink cartridges cleaning the heads or on cartridges that hardly print anything. I don't know where the ink goes but it's definitely NOT on printing on the paper. There's some major issues with this printer. I called Epson today after having problems with printer #4, they will send me another model. I've always had Epson printers and liked their print quality. This model is such a great disappointment. One thing I must say though is their Customer Support is pretty good.

Very Disappointed

I am very unhappy with this product. This is not a consumer friendly machine, unless the consumer is an IT tech. I still cannot get the scanner to work, nor can I use the WiFi feature. I can print, and copy, but that is it, and when I try to scan, I get an error message that says there is no computer hooked up. (Really? It prints just fine. If there is no computer for the machine to find to scan, how does it print?) When I inserted the set-up disc into my computer, nothing showed up to help me through the installation. When I purchased this, I did with the understanding that there was a paper feed for printing. But I cannot get anything to feed. That is an important feature for me because I make invitations and must be able to feed my own card stock (often not a standard size) into the printer. Overall, I am extremely unhappy with this printer and I would never purchase another Epson product.
