The worst printer I have ever owned.

This printer drinks ink. I am constantly having to buy over priced ink. The majority of the photos, pages, and envelopes I print have black ink smears and smudges of ink all over them and are worthless. A total waste of my money.

when it is working (a few times in the last few years) the photos look good. Unfortunately it wastes tremendous amounts of ink of all colors, regardless of whether printing in color or black and white. Even using a fresh new Epson photo black it fails to print black. Cleaning the heads wastes more ink. It loses network connectivity. But most of all it wastes precious photo glossy paper in ink because it doesn't print black, and it consumes vast amounts of expensive ink even to print black and white. Really a terrible, terrible experience. I will no longer buy Epson

I am unhappy with photo prints

My older C88 Epson printer did an excellent job with photos on glossy paper. This XP-810 does not. Too much ink, and is unusable. Standard "letter" copies are gray and noisy with black spots. Extra features, including wifi are great, while they worked. Installed new driver and it works again!

ink cartridge games
on March 17, 2017

Epson is still playing purchasing games with their ink cartridges. Once any of the cartridges are empty, you are forced to purchase a new one before the unit will operate.
Where this is a problem:
- if any of the color cartridges are empty, you cannot print black and white.
- If the large black XL cartridge is empty, you cannot print with only the small black.

Because of the inevitable uneven consumption of the ink, you are forced to either purchase in bulk trying to predict the future, or are stuck with whatever is available at a local store typically leading to the purchase of a bundled package ending up with many cartridges not needed. It is sheer idocracy that the unit is designed to force the consumer instead of letting them make a choice on how the machine is to be operated. There is no operational reason that should keep me from being able to print B&W with a single black cartridge
