Terrible Grill

We bought this grill two seasons ago and have had nothing but trouble. The design for cleaning the area below the burners is ridiculous. There should be access from underneath. Hard to remove the grease. The temperature is difficult to maintain no matter the
setting it goes to 400/450. Not at all pleased. I've grilled for 30 years and this is probably the most difficult grill.

I bought my Char-Broil a few years ago. I always keep a cover on it when not in use. The top of it is ok, but the legs and the grease pans have all rusted away. It is a shame because it does cook well. I will have to purchase a new grill and it will NOT be a Char Broil.

Burns hot, no storage underneath, no hooks on side

This grill is efficient and lightweight with good aesthetics. Turning all four burners to low and preheating the grill results in a temperature reading of about 620°F in 85° weather. You have to then open the grill and let the grates cool down or it will burn, not sear, your food. I seasoned the grates with canola oil and the grill temperature is to hot pyrolyze (is that even a word?) The oil into a protective film. Instead you get a flaky particulate ash that is incredible difficult to wash off, but binds we'll to meat. These characteristics make this grill particularly difficult to use for cooking things like fish, as you have to rely on indirect heat and using one or two burners. If your fillet of fish is longer than the grill is deep, I have not found a way to cook fish evenly without a burdensome amount of adjustment on the burner controls. With fish or chicken the canola oil ash is particularly problematic as you only want a light char.
I suspect if charbroil would spend a little money and develop a non linear (or linear if you are measuring temperature) gas valve the grill could be significantly improved upon. The current burners seem powerful enough to be classed as a sear burner.
So, improvements I would like to see:
1. Linear temperature control that allows for temperatures low enough to smoke or bbq.
2. Tool and accessory storage.
3. Possibly sear station with a spot for wood chips.
4. Bonus: IR radiator in lid which would open up my cooking repertoire.

Bottom line, I bought a gas grill for convenience, but the finnicky temperature controls and hot burners require constant attention to ensure the meal is worthy of the ingredients.
I haven't grilled on many gas grills, but my previous grill was something I salvaged from next to a dumpster at the end of a semester and spray painted with some black rustoleum, when I was a student at Auburn, an hour away from Columbus. The Charbroil has far more even heat than that grill did, but in terms of grill management the workloads were roughly the same for roughly equivalent product. My Auburn grill was much better for

Burners are good but the pan to accumulate the grease is totally destroyed
