Self Cleaning GE Range

I've had this self cleaning GE range for 3 months now, today is the first time that I have tried setting it on self-cleaning to clean. After about 10 minutes , there was the awfuliest smoke and horrible smell filling my kitchen up, and then I heard a loud noise coming from the inside of the oven and it was blazing on fire! Oh my god , the oven has caught on fire and is blazing all inside and the house is filled up with smoke and stinking smell. If it had not been for my grown son being here with me, my whole house would of caught on fire and burned down. He pulled it out from the wall and unplugged it , but the fire was still blazing inside for a few minutes. I've called the store and the warranty and manufacture and can't get any help right now. Today is New years Day and I can not even cook my dinner now!

I really do not like this stove.
I'm disappointed in the sheer cheapness of it,mostly.
When I turn on the oven, for example, to bake a small roast with some potatoes,(set for maybe 350 degrees), I cannot even touch the metal in the middle on the top of the stove, it gets SO HOT.As if the company has never heard the word "insulation".
Also, I really hate the "handle" on the bottom storage drawer.
It is slippery!! Very,very small indent for fingers to catch & hold onto, and on the TOP of the drawer yet,!! Lmost impossible to use. Glad I don't really have fingernails, they'd break for sure trying to use that drawer.
I hope whoever thought THAT one up, doesn't get any sleep for about a week, it's so badly engineered & made.
The side of the "carcass" of this stove, (can't think what else to call it), on the bottom end of the right front side, is very, very loose, feels---and looks-- like it will come apart any day now.
Last but not least,I figured I'd be able to find,& buy, upgraded drip pans for the stock extremely chintzy shiny metal ones, (maybe nice procelain ones?), since my entire purpose for giving up my Top-of-the-Line smoothtop GE stove to buy THIS thing, was so I could CAN my garden produce.
It's so cheaply made, I am afraid to can on it now...

I'm a 56 year old women and I know GE has been around for a long time and i have owned GE products in the past but the recent GE product that I purchased is of the poorest quality and craftsmanship i have ever experienced.

Mixed up oven

The oven temperature shown on the top of the stove does not match the temperature in the oven. It is always 100 degrees different. Repair man said that is how it works, when it says 350, give it 20 more minutes and it will be that temperature. Brand new stove and the temp reading does not match the temp in the oven. Totally unacceptable.

I relied on both GE and Consumer Reports. Both of them let me down big time. The oven has terrible features to try to set.

Hate the Sensi-Temp burners

I'd love to give this stove a better review, as the design, overall features, appearance are all good. The oven is nice and big with 5.3ft3. However the Sensi-Temp technology in the coil burners is a deal killer. I thought they were a good idea, thinking that if you were careless and burned the pan dry, it would shut off. Rather, the burner cycles on and off automatically while cooking---even before your pasta or tea water has come to a boil. I'm a veteran cook; I know how to pay attention to the stove, and some foods MUST be done at high heat--jams & jellies, stir fry, etc. I wish I could just turn the burner down manually when I determine that it's too hot. This is the first brand new stove I've ever had at age 61 and now I'm stuck with it.
