Great Bookshelf System

Have had the Sony CMT-SBT100 micro music system for a couple weeks now and am very pleased with its functions and performance. Handsomely designed with a simple set up it provides good, clear sound and easy operations through a handy remote or with its low profile push button interface on the receiver. I'm using it in my loft office and it pulls in my favorite FM radio stations better than my $450 receiver downstairs. iPhone set up is a snap for iTunes and it can also connect via Bluetooth or direct line-in wire to my laptop for clean streaming of internet radio options. Bass boost gives good punch, but I tweak the separate bass and treble digital controls for even crisper high end clarity. The single CD player built into the amp/receiver works fine for playing old favorites, but popping in one CD at a time is a bit of a hassle, but a reasonable compromise for a very compact system. The wood enclosed speakers are warm and solid and don't start distorting sound until you are way up on volume control. An inexpensive, full-function sound system that sounds and performs way better than most micros I have heard. Another well-made product from Sony.

Great purchase

We wanted a no frills, clean-looking stereo for our one bedroom house and this was the perfect one. The two speakers really sound awesome, the price was great, we needed an audio in jack for our Sirius and record player and we wanted it to be a quality purchase. What little stereo options are out there today leave much to be desired as they all seem to be somewhat gaudy, but not this one. Highly recommend.

XPERIA Z1 ultimate companion!

I recently purchased XPERIA Z1 along with this stereo system. The system has a clean modern design (expected from Sony) and nice features such as NFC, DSEE and built in S-Master amplifier. I mostly use the system for Bluetooth streaming, pairing is easy and fast. Tested the Bluetooth function with XPERIA Z1, all you need is turn on clearaudio + and you are set for an amazing audio experience! There is no loss in sound quality over Bluetooth thanks to the Apt-X codec support with BT 3.0
One downside is the USB port, it take a long time to scan the content on the flash drive or Walkman, and doesn’t play FLAC audio files through USB port.

speaker wire problems

In general the functionality is good but there are two major flaws which could be fixable if the company wanted them to be:
(1) The speaker wires are too short, and since the speaker wires are proprietary, there is no way to get longer wires
(2) There is no audio out, so Sonos or another brand of wireless speakers cannot be added
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

speaker wires and receiver could improve

I can't place the speakers where I want them due to the wires being too short.
The am/fm receiver needs an amplified antenna. Only a few stations come in sporadically (and not my fav's)
