I purchased my Roku 2 about 1.5 years ago and used it with little or no trouble up until recently.  In the past couple of months it started losing connection to the wireless and timing out on Netflix and Amazon.  I rebooted and it would work for a few days.  If finally factory reset the unit and it worked for a few weeks and then stopped connecting altogether.  I contacted customer service thinking the NIC had failed.  They expertly helped me trouble shoot the unit (without the typical obvious solutions having top be tread through again) and then helped me change my DNS server on my network away from TWC to an open source DNS server (much fast network access). They were very responsive and worked outside of the box to help me find a solution.  It has been 2 months now since the fix and everything including my smart TV is working better.  
It is nice to have a company that stands behind its products even after the warranty has expired.  I definitely recommend!

Its been I think close to 2 years since I've had my Roku 2 works flawless.  Used an app called Roksbox to transfer all my DVD's to my computer and now can stream all my movies directly to my TV thru the Roku app.  I have never had an issue with the Roku unit and now have cancelled my cable now that I have Netflix and Hulu Plus on Roku - Love my Roku!!!

We are in our 60's and can remember, honestly, when tv was a whole lot better.  We had better movies, sit coms and mysteries.  So now we much prefer the British Mysteries and Comedies and the ol spooky movies from the 50's, 60's and 70's.  Being a Vincent Price fan and Bela Lugosi fan you can tell what era we are talking about.  We had been paying incredible amounts of money for cable TV of which we watched perhaps 3 or 4 channels. We really hate the reality shows, many news shows and the current sitcoms are incredibly bad. So we decided to try Roku.  We got it from Acorn TV and we did have one minor problem during hook up. We called Roku and got a gentleman who walked me through a few steps and that corrected the problem.  Since then, we have had 3 other times that a glitch came up.  In 2 cases it seemed to be a problem of the actually channel we were trying to watch. In all cases a call to Roku fixed the problems.  Only once did it actually take one day to get fixed because the problem came from the channels (Drive In movie Channel) problem.  But it was fixed. Plus if there had been a problem you will get a follow up phone call and e mail from Roku to make sure the problem stayed resolved and you are happy.  Can't beat that !!  So, that being said let me tell you that we sooooo enjoy Roku.  If we want to watch something local we can since we kept our local channels at a pretty cheap price.  But 90% of the time we are watching Roku.  It is so much fun to us.  We can watch film noir movies from the 40's, we can watch sci fi from the 50's, we can watch movies from all the eras, we can watch documentaries, news information, etc. Some of the channels you will have to pay for.  That is up to you.  We have only spent money on 2 channels that charge (example $1.99 and that is it.  One time and never pay again) another has a cheap fee for an annual rate.  The rest are free.  A few channels will allow you to watch a movie with commercials but if you don't want commercials you can pay 99 cents to watch commercial free.  We just go ahead and let the commercials run, what the heck.  My husband loves the channels with the old westerns and I am hooked on Acorn TV for the British Mysteries.  We do not miss the "cable tv" at all.  No reality shows, etc.  You just have to pay for the Roku box and then if you want a specific channel you might have to pay. But as I said many many many are simply free.  We wouldn't change for anything !  Roku has saved our sanity by allowing us to watch, really, what we want to watch and when we want to watch it.  Simple as that.

I've had my ROKU 2 for over a year and love it! One of the features I like most is the closed captions since my hearing isn't what it used to be. I purchased one for a friend that also has hearing problems and he love his too! I use mine primarily for Netflix, but plan to try some of the other options as well.

Nice upgrade from Roku XR

Small sleek package about the size of a Mini CD vs. full CD jewel case and taller XR. Very easy to setup, the hardest part is typing wireless SSID, Roku account ID and passwords. Main menu is very functional and clean. Excellent opportunities to search available content. Navigation is as easy as before, now much more responsive and improved with Back, Replay and Options buttons on the remote, which now does not require line of sight with the box. Awesome headphones jack on the remote! Headphones when plugged switch audio output from the TV to the remote. Now when I listen to the music or radio I can turn the TV off and roam around the house. The included headphones are quite simple, you'll probably want to replace them. Headphones with right angle plug will make the remote more pocketable. Free Android/iOS app comes handy as a channel manager and QWERTY keyboard for the box. Overall stability is great; within about three weeks that I have the box it received a firmware update and some channel updates, that shows that the software part is well supported.

Since TV went digital we are able to receive 21 over the air channels and with the addition of roku our monthly bill is $8.00 (Netflix) This is by far the best entertainment value out there! If you do a little research you can watch network and cable shows one day delayed for free with roku Even Youtube. (hint the channel is available on roku for free) Have given several as gifts and have been thanked many times.

puchased Roku 2 mid december 2013. absolutely love this product and have turned off dish network. have not experienced any of the issues reported by a couple of roku users. this product is near perfect! shall you have issue w/ a remote or the box itself, go back to the store for an exact exchange or call roku. my roku get used for over 12 hours of audio / video a day and have had zero problems. awesome product, remote is far easier than Apple TV's remote.

Just got the new Roku 2 and love it actually. It is small, sleek, full of features, and is just what I was looking for. The private listening feature was actually a nice add-on as well. I didn't think I would use it that often but it is great when my toddler is taking a nap. Although, I have never owned a similar product to compare it too, I can definitely recommend it.
