Stick is better

We have the Roku stick and we purchased the Roku 1 for our sons birthday present (we tried to purchase another Stick but the HDMI port on his little TV was in a place that the Stick wouldn't fit). We have noticed some differences, the Roku 1 struggles to pick up WiFi. This problem took so long to figure out we ended up being stuck with this device and my son didn't get his birthday present after all.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This is a handy product to have on my tv. Have had issues with streaming at times, but usually satified with product.

When I bought this Roku, I bought it solely for using Netflix livestreaming. I am sorely disappointed in the movies in Netflicks library as they are mostly very old and seen already. Also when I search to find any of the movies I want to watch that have been well-known, none of them are there. I have no problems with Roku and I do like the small size of the remote! But if you bought every content like Hulu, Amazon etc that is included in the Roku remote, it would be very expensive so I won't be doing that.

Good but slow

I buought my Roku SE last month and as far as I don't have cable for my tv, Roku provides lots of entartainment by using various channels and some free live channels, the main problem is that start streaming from iPhone YouTube app to tv takes nearly one minute to start playing the video.
I would recommend this to a friend!

My old roku unit quit working, so I went and bought a new unit. The old one was connected via the T-5 line to the router. The new one connects via WiFi. I am not totally connected yet, because the various services now need a password. Some services I have not found yet. I miss DEMOCRACY NOW, NPR, HULU, others.
I have trouble with losing the roku controller; it is so small I keep losing it in my recliner chair.

The HD quality is superb. The streaming is wonderful. There is NO pausing to wait for movies to "load." I bought one to try based on the advice of my Internet Service Provider Tech Support, now I am going to buy one for each of my 'non-Smart' TVs.

Works on my old Analog TV!

I only have a old TV that doesn't get any channels without a digital converter box which cost $50! Reluctantly, I went shopping for one when I discovered Roku $35. I decided to get it since it would let me go on YouTube and turn my old TV into a smart TV.
It works just fine. Only bad things are you need good WiFi, it can't be plugged in to internet, and without internet it does nothing.
Using your mobile phone data as a hotspot for Roku uses up my 10g data plan in a few hours so definitely don't recommend that, have to have seperate wifi.
Also Roku offered 3month trials to Hulu, and various other services but never honored them.
I would recommend this to a friend!
