Better than streaming from my computer!

We started using our Roku about a month ago. I originally thought that it wouldn't be much different than just streaming movies to our TV from our computer...but I was wrong. We switched out the computer for the Roku and the Roku took care of the latency issue. Not sure if that will always happen, but it definitely did that for a movie we were watching so I am sold. Also it was relatively easy to set up.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I recently purchased this device. I was able to watch some good movies but found it difficult to see live television. They do not stream Fox News live after 4pm, which is bad since I do get home after that hour. Also, the Hallmark movie Channel is not live. You have to choose your movie. Overall, this product is better and cheaper than cable. So am very please. I highly recommend it.

Had some difficulties in setting up and had to have tech support help (about 30 minutes). After that, it has been working like a charm. I am very impressed. Only drawback about Roku 1 is that |I can not access You Tube with this unit. I am told that I need Roku 3 for that.

Easy set up, great features!

I just set up the Roku 1 and can't believe how easy it was. Less than 10 minutes. I am using this in my bonus room to stream Netflix and for the kids content. Netflix set up was another easy process. I am disappointed in the Disney channel . They do not offer full shows, only clips. The PBS channel is very good and offers a large selection of content. Still exploring the rest of the channels, but there is a ton of content!

i just got this yesterday and love it. i wasnt happy to see the overcharge on my bill though. great unit though. It beats WD tv by a long shot.

Works OK but poor value for money

Over twice as expensive as competitor smart boxes which come complete with a HDMI cable. Roku only comes with an A/V cable so you have to buy a HDMI cable seperately so the total cost is three times that of competitors. You must have a wirelss router as the Roku is only able to work off a WiFi connection. There is no provision to plug in an Ethernet cable to connect directly to the internet in case of WiFi problems.
Dosen't say on the box that you also need a credit card as you have to set up a Roku account and that without one you then can't complete the installation and actually use the Roku.
