Suited my purpose perfectly

I had been using an iPad to stream Netflix movies to an older TV with component connections. When Apple moved to OS9 operating system they ended the ability to convert the digital video signal - and would not allow reversion to the older OS8 operating system. Neither did Apple personnel have a solution to my problem. The Roku 1 is just perfect, taking a WiFi streaming signal and providing a component or HDMI output to my older TV - and at a very affordable price.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I bought this awhile back and while I love it and it doesn't essentially the same job as my stick, Roku2 and RokuTv by TCL... It's amazing minus he fact that my parental control pin locks even me out! Since there isn't a way to enter my pin and watch something when I use Netflix, which seems to be a restriction only on this Roku device and non of my others. But otherwise it's great.

I have it, its not convenient to add the extra channels. I have purchased Google Chromecast thats not so hot either about the same even more limited. I purchased a android box and its amazing using Kodi its exactly what i wanted! I like Roku for the Fishing and outdoor channels they have outside of that I am not using it much..
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This is my 4th ROKU I have them on all my TV's in House I wish I had done this so long ago all the money i could have saved it's so nice having TV when it rains are cloudy and I don't have to fight with someone every month over the OVER CHARGING ! I SMILE every time I turn one on ! I just installed one for my sister she is SMILING now too The ease of installing is GREAT the picture is PERFECT!THANK YOU ROKU!!

I would love it but it needs to be unplugged and plugged back in all the time. any remote I use, app or physical roku remote, works for one selection and then the entire unit freezes.

Great in car streaming solution!

We purchased a SUV which had an existing rear seat entertainment center. The units only had analog interfaces and the only solution on the market that could accommodate this was the Roku 1. Setup was pretty straight forward and it does what I need it to do. Although I'm disappointed the Netflix interface does not support profiles, the Roku interface is great because it allows me to chose what services I want to search from as opposed to defaulting me into a providers service. I plan on cutting my cable in June and will be purchasing additional Roku units for the house as well.
I would recommend this to a friend!
