I Have an old tv ,so when I cancelled cable and had attenna tv and an old Sony streaming box we were only able to watch Netflix and Amazon and some crazy unknowns . Now with roku 1 I have the same possibilities that I get on my roku smart tv .So loving it have over 2000 channels and lots of stuff for kids too...the only thing is I can't find an off on button so roku is always on or sleeping like the computer does

I bought this a month ago because I found I could watch some old films from my time. I am 80 yrs olld and don't care for what is in the movies or on TV.

My husband and I debated on whether to get basic cable or to get the roku. We got the roku a little over a month ago and love it. Our children are very happy with it as well. There are so many options and apps to use. We definitely made the right choice.

Works great for our old TV

We have an old RCA TV that refuses to die. It's not smart, not flat screen, weighs about 80 pounds, but it works fine. We got Roku 1 with a composite cable and are good to go!

Better than smart TV

It is great. I bought Roku 1 for an older TV with component and composite input. Ended up getting a new smart TV and was hoping to dump the Roku to have fewer remotes. It turns out that the Roku is smarter than the TV, which can't natively stream as many channels. The smart TV will not stream PBS, the Roku will, for example.
I would recommend this to a friend!
