The reason for this purchase is because my roku stick stopped working after only s few months because of the remote. I paid the monthly fee for the service anyway because I didn't want to discontinue and have to start over. It is fine so far but I haven't had it long enough to give it a five because of the remote. Hope it lasts. The service is great, lots of things to watch. There are a few free channels that are not worth the time because the ads keep interrupting the programs.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I bought a Roku 1 about a month ago but I already had a Roku 2 the Roku 1 is perfect great product .

Not for my TV

I was very excited to find another way to stream "Netflix" to my TV without using my game system. When I purchased I plugged it in and it worked for about 30 minutes then it just stopped working. I can't take it back where I bought it from because they don't give refunds on electric items once they've been opened. I have the Roku II for my flat screen in the living room and it is working fantastic, no complaints on that one. Just wish the Roku I worked for my older TV.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Awesome device for any TV

I mostly bought this because of it's composite output feature. I have a 27" TV in my guest room and I wanted it to be able to stream from my accounts. I wasn't expecting much going in, but it actually looks really good. The image looks crisper then the DVD player I had hooked up, and works really well. Just to see, I hooked it up to my main TV and it handles HD well too. If you travel alot, I'd recommend this model since it will hook up to pretty much any TV you'll find in a hotel. It's not as compact as the stick but it will fit inside a small camera bag.
