I love my Roku 1. It is a very good way to get most of the channels you want, except for the local channels in your area.This is the only complaint I have. So much better than paying the high cable bill. You can also replay or resume a movie or show. This I really love.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Never Again

Never Again!
I bought this to replace cable and it worked fine for about half an hour. Then it starts to lose the stream. After it lost the stream a couple of times it finally shut down and restarted itself. Repeat, etc. Never Again!!!

I bought this and I am a little sad because the apps are so expensive and the Netflix app on so confusing and hard t use

Great for those new to streaming!

I bought the Roku 1 to get first hand experience with streaming device technology. I had heard and read articles about the Roku and other similar devices for over a year, but I was skeptical on the legitimacy of the technology, I had questions, how was it possible to get cable stations without a cable subscription? well there isn't but, the Roku player allows you to take advantage of the alternative and less expensive ways to get all the channels cable companies have for much less. Streaming apps like Sling TV or Playstation Vue, offer all of the same channels for far less money than my cable subscription, and there are no monthly rental fees for a set-top-box from the cable company. For a one time investment of the Roku player and a subscription to Netflix, HULU, HBO Now, or one of the aforementioned streaming apps, your still paying less than a comparable cable subscription.
The Roku 1 is not Roku's top of the line model, and it's best suited for retro-fitting older TVs(non-HDMI) with streaming capabilities, but it's great for anyone new to streaming who just want to get a feel for how this technology works. My only gripe is with the Netflix app, the Roku 1 is not compatible with the newer updated Netflix app. So if you have multiple profiles on your Netflix account, the Roku 1 Netflix app will only show the primary profile on the account. Other than that, the Roku 1 is a great device, and I have officially cut the cable!

Beats high cable cost

I have had the Roku 1 for about a month now. I can watch movies any time of day, 24 hrs. a day. Especially when I cannot get local stations with my amp. antenna, I can still enjoy the Roku 1. I have already set a friend up with one & she is enjoying it also.
I would recommend this to a friend!
