I was after a roku 2 but the guy at the store said the other versions aren't worth the extra money. The roku streaming stick didn't work when I plugged it into my TV, so I didn't want that again. I went with another roku 1 instead. I now have one on each TV and the first one I got about 4 years ago still works fine. Although there are a lot of free and paid channels that you can download, the only one I pay for is Netflix and the majority of the free channels are not great. Some of the movie streaming channels have good movies to watch, but of course to watch them free you have to watch 3-5 ads every 10 minutes. Most of the time it plays the same ads back to back to back. Other channels are good if you want to watch really really really old movies. There are also a lot of children's channels and baby channels. My niece enjoys watching her favorite cartoons from Doc Mcstuffins to Cailou. It is worth the investment to get, especially if you don't have cable or you rent movies a lot. I see a lot of movies in the free streaming and netflix channels, that I also see at the local movie store. I try not to waste money in the movie store unless I can't find it in the Roku somewhere.

I have a Roku in one room and I have a Amazon Fire in the other. I like my Roku better because it's not so cluttered on the main screen. I can navigate much faster

I am so pleased with this "Plug-n-Play" unit. Easy to use and understand. Very well designed with the customer in mind built in software. I would recommend this product to my mother.
