It is great for its value, not as user friendly or aesthetically pleasing as Apple TV. Pandora is a cool feature with very limited commercials. The way movies are listed in their perspective categories is weird and not always intuitive.
I would recommend this to a friend!

A great way to get streaming content. Box is small and not unattractive. Only thing I would improve is angle of remote/IR pickup.

I love my Roku

Ive had my Roku 1 for about 7 months and there has not been one day since that I have been unhappy with my service...unlike my experience with my local cable provider. I am actualy planning on upgrading to the 3. I would and have recomend Roku to everyone.

Easy to use!

Bought this device a while ago and it's really easy to use. The problem with it is that it just doesn't have the power to run some of the channels the way they should be ran. If you're looking for a player I would say go for the higher player roku 3 it cost more but works much better.

I had hesitated about buying a Roku for a few years because I just didn't see any sense to it. After all, as long as you could watch things like YouTube and Amazon Prime on your computer, why get something else??
Then I spend the weekend with a friend who uses Roku and the internet as her entire TV system. She no longer has cable or a dish, all her TV needs are satisfied with what is online and it was SO much cheaper than a monthly cable bill. I began to see possibilities.
For one, I do not have to require my family to crowed around a computer screen if there is something online I would like to show them. I recently purchased the new Muppets movie and my two nieces will be coming over on Tuesday for the debut showing and we can actually get the popcorn out without fear of getting any butter or salt in the keyboard!
Roku also as a set of channels all their own as well. I purchase the Roku Holiday Channel and their Fireplace Channel and cranked the fireplace-with-Christmas-music-playing while we decorated the tree. It was fabulous!
This was a very good purchase for me. It was not simply a duplication of viewing venues as I originally thought. The Roku1 has added to my viewing pleasure in ways I was not able to access though my computer.
If one is thinking of buying the Roku1, I would highly recommend it!

Tons of free channels for movies, TV, documentaries, history, science, etc.
Netflix is the only paid service I use for more of the latest, big-name stuff.
It is more than I could ever watch and I only pay for the Netflix.
